It's only been about 20000 posts of mostly facile diatribe on TAT and finally we get a true glimpse of what's really going on inside the head of the master framemaker! :D Honestly, maybe 5 people on this entire forum NEED something more than a 20lb lugged frame with Chorus. The rest of us will still be fat, slow, genetically non-freaky boffins regardless of what we're riding. Still, my next roadie will either be Ti or 953! Man, I haven't bonked or been on the vom-vom train since I was 19. (which was 2 years ago incidently *cough*) :o Now I'm old and have a perfect solution - Don't ride so hard! |

havtn vomitted but did get that horrible raspy cough and taste of blood after a 12 lap missnout track race  |
Adrenaline kicks it way up.
When I do hill repeats, it's a fair effort to sustain above LT, but my HR is much higher just cruising in a race. |

I wore a HRM once in a motorcycle race. My HR was over 180 just sitting on the grid. That's pure adrenaline.

Ha, Ha. 20 pounds is heavy for a frame.
Did anyone see the article in todays Hun (Melbourne Herald-Sun for you foreigners)? Big article on Jobie Dajka. He's training again with John Beasley, off the piss and back down to racing weight. No straight jacket or anything! He has almost completed this 'community service' imposed by CA and has done everything asked of him - should get his licence to race back soon. |

I'm not expecting a 'realistic' ride on a trainer, but I figure at least that would make sure the fit is pretty okay, and I'm just not experienced enough with road biking to work out from trainer or test ride whether the bike will really suit me more than any other anyway...

Maxim, here's another option. Since you're scrabbling around trying to figure it all out, why not go see Steve Hogg at Pedalpushers/Cyclefit in Rosebery. Do lots of research first and walk in with a bucketload of questions and $200 and a couple of hours later you'll walk out with sore legs, lots of answers and a piece of paper telling you what size seat tube, top tube, stem, seat tube angle, seatpost setback, blah blah you really need AND THEN you can go spend 4 grand whereever you want on a new bike that really fits and suits you OR start shopping on ebay and get the same thing near new for half price. And then ride it and love it or sell it again for what you paid for it and get the next thing that takes your fancy.
And that was a great fight. Damn. Congrats Mundine. But didn't the little Filipino get robbed? Anyone else get a giggle from Ahmed's mate with the phone? |
