I probably have 18 months to 2 years before the wife really gives me the hard word about kids. Is that how it worked for you guys? Did you just crack or what?

Odin 05-17-06 04:55 PM

Never got the hard word. It just sort of happened.

And then ride it and love it or sell it again for what you paid for it and get the next thing that takes your fancy.

And that was a great fight. Damn. Congrats Mundine. But didn't the little Filipino get robbed? Anyone else get a giggle from Ahmed's mate with the phone?

+1, even if it does cost a plane ticket to get there. In any event, I think Steve Hogg has a setup down there in Mexico. ;)

jock 05-17-06 05:00 PM

all 3 were unplanned but much loved.

Until now. THey're bloody weekend sports are eating into valuable ride time!!!

climbo 05-17-06 05:02 PM

not really a cracking but a mutual, we are getting older, let's do it before it's too late kinda thing. I'm glad I didn't wait any longer, and now wish I'd done it earlier but no complaints. Lived OS for 10 years, now back home and family time.

But basically when your lady wants to, be prepared, their body clocks just hit the alarm one day and you're in for it ! :)

I wanted to be able to get a 24" bmx race bike as well as a new 20". Had to have kids so I had an excuse to keep buying bikes (and a playstation, yet to buy one though). Had a daughter, mrs said no bmx for her, dolly's & clothes. So I went again and got a son.

No, seriously we though it was never going to happen after a few years fo trying. Even the doc said so. We just went for it then, ended up with 2 in justs over 2 years.

I am looking at micro mini bmx & a new 24" race bike though.

Mate, one day she'll walk out of the loo with a pregnancy test stick in her hand saying, "honey, we need to talk!"

You'll never know if it was planned or not, cause THEY hold ALL the power when it comes to breeding.:(

Something like that, I think we got $2k for the first one then a few months later it went to $5k, not sure if we got it with number 2 yet, have to ask the wife. Maybe it went towards to bill, she wanted to go private here in Sydney, the grant was maybe just over half (60 odd %) of the cost.

Maxim 05-17-06 05:49 PM

Still off to Clarence St today, but I have lots of good suggestions if that falls through, so thanks.

If you don't have a properly fitted bike, you will not want to ride it. Now if you just want to lean it against a post outside Starbucks, that's a different story.
First, Starbucks is horrible.

Second, as I've said, I fit into that minority category here of people who've never really ridden a racing bike before - it's not as if I could test ride three bikes and work out the nuances of why each might or might not suit me, especially if I feel **** scared at the time, fearing I'm about to crash a 3K bike in the inner city. Last time I was on one I think I felt uncomfortable with drops - if I did test rides this time, if I was to base my purchase on what I felt during the rides, I would surely get an MTB or flat bar hybrid or road bike; I simply don't trust myself to 'know' what's best for me past it seeming to fit and be acceptably comfortable. I will definitely only buy one that feels comfortable, but it seems that I'm not going to be able to replicate any long ride in a test and that in terms of simply sizing, a trainer should give me good feedback.

Now, this post is all just to justify to myself getting a bike this way, but no matter.

Not bad dollars but I think I've left my run a bit late.

pshaw 05-17-06 05:54 PM

Everyone quickly knock out a couple of kids and Tigger will lay-buy you the TiTephra for 24months until the grants get paid!

You only just worked this out? The human race has 3-4 generations max and then it will go the way of the dinosaurs (just my personal opinion based on general observation) but it will get pretty ugly before the final crunch.

Just hope I'm dead before it all starts falling apart in a big way.

Wilchemy 05-17-06 07:04 PM

I had a couple of years before it was "let's start a family time", but then it took a couple more years of trying before finally going to seek expert advice which eventually paid off with a top result - our little girl! And I had always thought it was so easy....

HDTVKSS 05-17-06 07:05 PM

Holy ****ing ****! Is this for real?!?!?!

"To get to the minerals, it would be necessary to break, to destroy the glaciers - something never conceived of in the history of the world - and to make 2 huge holes, each as big as a whole mountain, one for extraction and one for the mine's rubbish tip. If the glaciers are destroyed, they will not just destroy the source of specially pure water, but they will permanently contaminate the 2 rivers running from glaciers so that they will never again be fit for human or animal consumption (because of the use of cyanide and sulphuric acid in the extraction process)."

All you guys changing diapers, I don't know what to tell you. Ours are 13,15,16, and 18. No new baby bonus for us. But we do get paroled a lot sooner than you guys. We could have a kid-free house in as little as 5 years.

Any exhibitionists want to take a photo of themselves slapping on some chamois cream to help this noob out :p
