yes, HDT got beaten by a young fella going up to C grade next week, so 2nd was not too shabby for his first outing up at Calga. Must be all the MTB training :)

HDTVKSS 05-14-06 05:30 PM

was good fun, but i need to learn how to follow a wheel!! have spoken to a racer at work and got some tips, still, 3rd group ride i guess it wasnt too bad, but having to get back on he group at least 3 times burnt a lot of matches. if i could have stayed on i could have attacked a lot more, which is what i plan to do next time.

thanks for the training program climbo, those days when im doing intervals on the trainer and nearly passing out seem to be paying off ;)

Anyway to cut a long story long, I dropped into the local IGA tonight and the dude brought out an 8 pack of a never before seen Tooheys Premium Dry. You won't find it on the lion-nathan website, and not even google knows about it. It's supposed to be smoother across the tongue than Extra Dry, but here's the kicker: the label on the neck of the bottle reads 6.5%. That's the equivalent of longwall mining your last few remaining briancells out. Think Elephant Beer and you'll be on the right track

IGA reckons an 8 pack will sell for about $20, which makes it only slightly more exxy than extra dry which seems to have found itself in the boutique brews section of most liquor shops even though it's probably just tooheys new cold filtered and dressed up in a clear bottle.

Look for it in you IGA store some time in June. Look for 17yo kids and unsuspecting yanks passed out on your front lawn about the same time. :D

Have fun.

Corporate beer still sucks, and you should be ashamed of yourself drinking that sheit, Jock. Anyway, isn't Coopers Sparkling 6.5% and actually tastes like beer? It's only about 14 bucks for a sixer *Waits for Exy to chime in about how you can buy beer at the 711 over there and that it's cheaper than milk* (and tastes like it, too)

On another topic, I have had the best Thylacine week so far, and am in the process of doing THREE bikes at the same time, two of with are TITANIUM!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

I'm a happy chappy.

Tooheys Extra dry is favoured by young drinkers because its soft drink properties. Extra dry is a very bubbly beer allowing new beer drinkers and teenagers alike to get easily sloshed on beer.
However as these drinkers get older and figure out this beer tastes bad, but having started off on a beer that is better tasting than vic or new, they tend to move onto the "premium" beers like coopers pale ale, becks, stella artois etc.

Coopers Sparkling Ale is 5.8%, but even that'll get you pretty happy pretty quickly :D That plus being the best beer brewed in Oz makes for good drinking in my book.

I started a thread about this a while ago, and some 'expert' said that max psi out of a pump is more about strength, rather that the structure of the pump....RAH ME!!! :p

I wonder if the rating is different for the different size pumps - mine is the shortest HPX you can get (Size 1) and I know the box is generic for all 4 sizes (I kept my box too, but I can't find it at the moment). So maybe the website reflects what the shortest one can do and if you have the Size 4, then you can get 160psi. I've gotta say there is no way on this planet I could even begin to get near 100psi in 20seconds - 20 minutes more like. :p

And maybe you should change you name to 531Arnie. ;)

I love how this thread regularly returns to a beer theme!

Bugger beer - any wine drinkers out there? Had a 1994 Rothbury Estate Shiraz a couple of days ago - drinking beautifully, an ideal accompaniment to nice juicy piece of fillet steak (rare, of course). :)

Public admissions of Goon consumption (or indeed, any cask wine) should be grounds for instant banishment. :D

HDTVKSS 05-14-06 06:14 PM

either that or instant recognition that somone is living the uni lifestyle!

jock 05-14-06 06:23 PM

Wine tastes like crushed grapes to me :p

Wilchemy 05-14-06 06:41 PM

I' quite happy to drink nice wine, especially if it came from the father-in-law's wine cellar & i didn't have to pay for it! :)

I take it the reason you put premium in quotations was because you were taking the urine?

Oddly, you can get Coopers here for about $8/six pack. Not sure if they sell it at 711 though. Oh, good deal on the bikes!

You're only a Ted if you regularly rip valve stems off.

Patty, USD8 for a sixer of Coopers is a cracking deal. Kewl, I'll have something to drink if I can convince Shewhomubo I need to go to Interbike this year.

Hey, anyone had Hargreaves Hill Pale ale (Yarra Valley), Red Hill anything (Red Hill) or Scharers Lager (Picton, NSW)?

Three absolutely crackin' beers.

badsac 05-14-06 10:26 PM

Still doin my bit to pimp Thylo's gear. Although I'd do a better job of it if I'd get a nice custom steel HT for nix. ;)

badsac 05-14-06 10:41 PM

Makes a silk purse out of all of us sows ears. Probably the only thing that got me over the line was that jersey, such is the inspiration it gives! (Do I get my new frame yet?)

Thylo honoured the warranty on your jersey yet jock?

As your US agent, I'm sure I can convince the Princess that I should attend as well. When is it? By the way, no one in Vegas pays for alcohol. It's free. I'm sure you can make the adjustment.

Did people ask what bike shop that was? That's what normally happens.

Interbike is at the end of September.....and why didn't people tell me the last time I was there that drinks were free? I think I spent 200 bucks one night just gettin on the wallop (Thank YOU .48 exchange rate). Must also remember to bring ID to the clubs, too. "Do I look under 21 to you mate?" doesn't appear to work like it does here.

Sadly no. Unfortunately I don't have any fotografic proof that I was out amongst it as a human billboard for Warrick Cresswell Design. Got any mediums left in the holding bay Thylo?

Thylacine 05-14-06 11:44 PM

Speaking of beer, these dudes just won best beer in Australia.

http://www.redoak.com.au/

Beer aged in oak? Apparently.

Yeah, I have a couple of jerseys left. Looks like there's a medium in there. No plans for a 'crash replacement' policy on the jerseys, Fockers cost too damn much.
