Dunno aout those maps saccy? The trail head is on red-hill road/yarramalong road.
T, if you get off at Ourimbah station it will be about 4ks on road to the palmdale end, then ~15km on firetrails to the XC course.

Well before you burst a blood vessel, let me clarify - my confusion arose from the fact that I couldn't think of any hills on Wiseman's Ferry Rd which are steeper than those on Peat's Ridge Rd. I was certainly not trying to be sarcastic nor to belittle your effort.

There, I bet you found that really helpful didn't you? :D :D

Heh, heh - you are wise to be concerned.

Actually, I just used the Airview link under Online Services on the Department of Lands website.

If you ask my nephew, he's convinced I'm omniscient. :D

How dodgy is that site? Someone should do something about it. ;)

was about 8 deg outside my kitchen when I left this morning, first time in knee warmers this winter. :(

Thylacine 05-08-06 04:28 PM

Heatwave! I'm not even wearing socks this morning. Isn't that fascinating!

Oh! Petacchi is out of the Giro! Had a crash apparently 50kms from the finish.

You know, it really sh¡ts me we don't get any coverage of the Giro. There better be highlights this Sunday or I might just have to slip into 'angry letter writing' mode.

Apology  accepted. ;)

We have no Giro coverage here in sheep shagger land either :( The best I can manage is a minute or two summary on the Eurosport news package each morning. The NZ satellite TV sports channels show all the TdF stages live, and have shown highlights of the classics this year, but no Giro or Vuelta. This months TV guide has no highlights at all for the Giro that I can find.

I tried writing angry letters, but the media just don't give a **** about anything but rugby, cricket, league and netball unless it involves drugs, medals, or drunken falling about. Over 10,000 riders do round Taupo each year and do the newspapers send anyone to take pics or write a column about it? Nothing. There have been a couple of TV highlights packages done on occasion, but they focus on the elite riders and not the Joe Average riders pouring their sweat out onto the road as the culmination of their year's training.

pshaw 05-08-06 05:03 PM

I'm sure Jock will provide more detail but SBS has 2 hours on Romandie and Flech this Sunday.
Assume Giro will be shown in 2 weeks.

pshaw 05-08-06 05:08 PM

Jock, Climbo, has the message board been removed from the CCCC website? I want to ask if there is any interest in moving the track training sessions from 800 mon & Fri to 0700.
Who can ride from 0800 for and hour and a half on a school day? just a daft time IMO

FWIW, probably the same people who ride tu/thu from 1520 :(

Wilchemy 05-08-06 05:16 PM

(Car brand) World Sport on SBS each nite will usually have a quick clip of the previous days Giro. Apart from that just have to hope for a highlights package in a few weeks I suppose.

And how short must this bloke be??? :D

I've found some coverage of the Giro, but the files are over a gig in size! Maybe signing up for 512/128 broadband wasn't such a great idea afterall.

badsac 05-08-06 05:46 PM

Those gigs are there to be used. They don't roll over to next month.

matagi 05-08-06 06:12 PM

World Sport on SBS is supposed to be showing highlights of the Giro tonight (as opposed to the two second grab they have been giving us for the past few days)

HDTVKSS 05-08-06 06:16 PM

not windy at all, it the field of riders and how attacking they are. The first race was very slow in reality, the current times are more like what they usually are.
