We had a 1hr40+2 enduro/RR thingy today. On the last lap, 4 guys jumped on the back of C grade up the back straight and got a good 20m break and went on to win the places. Apparently that's ok although I thought sucking off a higher grade was illegal.
Just another way to loose a freekin race.

Odin 03-05-06 02:25 AM

I thought gaining advantage from any other grade was grounds fer disqualification...
I was working with another bloke to pull in the break yesterday, we caught a pair of C graders (at the crest of a hill) and for a brief time all 4 of us drafted down the hill... then one of the C graders (who was behind me) pipes up with "you're not allowed to sit on his wheel"
I apologised, but fer feck's sake I was just after a rest... I had to drag my brakes to stay behind him, hardly gaining advantage.

So we promptly dropped them :D

Apparently it's ok on the last lap for some bizzar reason. I was so pissed I didn't stay for the preso or the outcome of my protest which I had been told would fail.

Nice :)

We had a very technical start to our race today. One lap of neutral then it was like the end of the race, hard surges, little breaks, guys not wanting to pull a turn coz they were hanging on for grim death, bastards like me being negative and shutting breaks down, etc. It was like a game of chess where you were playing 5 different games at once. In the end there was so little cooperation that the average pace got pretty slow.

B Grade were a different story with several guys committing to hard, sustained attacks after we lapped them. As a result we kept getting tangled up with them (and other grades along the way!). Went neutral at one point to let their bunch stay in the chase of a break but they sat up... right next to us!!!!! Morons. Went neutral again when they got the bell lap and they gave us a serve for being too slow. Funny guys.

What I'm trying to figure out is, did Saccy get George Michael's autograph, or not?

HDTVKSS 03-05-06 01:21 PM

raced sport ( cgrade ) up at ourimbah and am embarrased ot say i got a 3rd. not embarased cause it wasnt a higher place, but because all i did was roll around all day, finished the race and was like, is that it?sstill had at least another lap left in me :( took it way too easy :(

that place just kicks you in the assos technicly these days, the new section is really good, but there are 1 or 2 bits i cant ride ( read: don want to risk broken collar bone )

oh well, i have till may to get angry about it! in the meantime, does anyone know a good front MTB tyre that is raceable ( i.e will roll) and brovides some grip ) running the crossmakrs that came on the bikee and they were a bit of a let down yesterday

What do you mean you cant ride it? You're gonna have to move to Bathhurst as the toilet attendant ;)
C'mon HD, didnt you read about the OTB comp a couple of months back?
:roflmao:

I forgot you were up here, I was at Ourimbah riding the trails (not xc course) from 0600. Doh!

How long before idiot coaches (all sports, esp football codes) get the message that this is not OK...

No athlete should be allowed to continue in that condition: if it was bad enough she could quite easily have died. And that the media has portrayed the athlete as some sort of 'hero' doesn't help at all either.

Geez Expat, you traded this (looks out at the sunshine) for that? Poor bugger. :)

FYI I've posted a thread about the Handbuilt Bike Show that was on in San Jose over the weekend. It's in the Framebuilders section, so you should go check it out. There's some serious loveliness over there.

In typical Seppo fashion, the organiser decided in this infinite fascististic way to ban cameras from the show. Naturally I took that as an affront to our collective liberties so I've encouraged everyone and anyone to take pix and let us know their thoughts on the show.

As someone hilariously e-mailled me today "The Indians are circling the caravans".

I agree, and the elite levels need to set an example for amateur grades to follow. The coaches and trainers need to get players out of the game as soon as they start looking less than coherent (front row forwards need to be an exception here.)

Watching the Hurricanes vs Cheetahs game on the weekend, Piri Weepu (Hurricanes halfback) left the field with breathing difficulties in the high altitude - without the trainers escorting him he would have just collapsed.

The players are never in the right position to make a good decision about continuing if they've just taken a blow to the head, just get the buggers off the paddock as a precaution.

Anyway, some nice stuff !!! A cool white Vicious SS pic on one of those links with the disc mount between the chain and seat stay. All I can say is carbon, schmarbon :)

Oh no, we're only allowed to have officially corporate sanctioned photos and press releases. There is no reality, only the reality that is constructed for us.

Didn't you know that?

Yeah, I have a thing for internally routed cables. Shame nobody wants to pay for it coz it's such a time consuming pain in the butt.

jock 03-05-06 04:45 PM

My kids took us to watch the game at Central Coast Stadium yesterday. I think they saw a collective total of about 2.3 sec of the game!! They were more interested in doing the kids activities (which weren't publicised). :)

jock 03-05-06 04:46 PM

On a brighter note, my youngest learnt to ride a bike without training wheels yesterday. Now I just have to teach her how to stop without crashing

climbo 03-05-06 04:58 PM

it was free though right?

the Marinators end was all action, good quality cheering, 3 evictions, all good fun except the result.

Likewise, my daughter cheered for either side just to join the fun and the clapping part of the match. She did have a little yellow #15 shirt on to show her parents loyalty to the Yellows though !

jock 03-05-06 05:04 PM

Yeah free. Until you went to get a plastic cup of crap beer or wine for $5 that is!

Not many there really, about 4000. Very comfy down on the pitch, plenty of room, good viewing ;) Lotsa kids full of soft drink and lollies running everywhere at a million miles an hour
