Ppls on the A&S forum are a tad 'militant'. You will always get rednecks involved in mass participation events. If only they were all voluptuous, female, and members of Critical Ass :D

hitchy Which I suppose isn't really an issue since I've let the race licence lapse anyway.... :) I also probably don't notice them being too stiff for daily riding coz I'm <75kgs. |

What's his name? I might know of him from some of the Beach Rd toss-fests :p Not little "Timmsy"? I usually see the Pro-Motion guys on Looks, but I guess that'll soon be changing. |

i think its funny how everyone rekons its the greatest game in the world, the world game, the beautiful game - whatever.
Now, correct me if im wrong, but EVERY game we have played at this WC seems to have been " marred" by game deciding bad refs decisions according to the press. What an awesome game that is... pls tell me why if they finished as also rans they deserve a parade? im sure my taxes are better suited to somthing else, like getting crack hores off the street or somthing... :/rant: |

:/rant: The effort by the Socceroos is certainly to be applauded, they did very well to get to the second round but when all is said and done, it is only a game. Personally, I don't get this "let's have a parade" mentality for every perceived sporting triumph. |
soccer is like any other sport, ref decisions can change a game, just ask the Knights.
As for soccer, played well, it can be a beautiful game, did you watch the Italians last night? In the penalty area they had great skills on the ball. Parade? Hadn't heard about this one, I'm sure they'll do something for them. On a World scale, soccer is a huge sport, watched and played by millions. To get to the final 16 and narrowly miss the quarters is a great effort for the 42nd ranked team in the world. Rugby and cricket for example are minnows compared to football on a World scale so you can't really compare winning say, the Ashes to the World Cup. |
Still on the subject of soccer, does anyone know how the world rankings are determined?

Rides either a T-Mobile Giant or an TCR1 (I think). He's usually out on Beach Rd in the pre-dawn bunches though - don't know if they fit your muso life-style tho....:p |
Sad to see the Aussies exit the World Cup in the way they did. :( A good effort overll though.
At least now I can get some sleep in the bank before the TdF starts I suppose.:) |

Actually, what im interested in in the soccer is the next WC. the Aussie sporting public is very, very unforgiving. They have set themselves big shoes to fill and if the at worst fail to qualify, or get thrrashed in the first group rounds it will be intersting to gauge the public reaction....
appologies for the rant, above, this is what happens when you get up in 0 temps to go on a hour and a half training ride before work.... I dont hate soccer, just the fickle nature of Aus sports fans who will jump on any bandwagon if they think they can win... My family has a pretty big soccer heritage, my grandfather was a trainer for a club in Aus, his Brother was a world class pro player and my cousin plays 1st grade soccer here. personly tho, i do find it a bore to watch and could never see myself getting up at 2 in the morning for it.... i would for the ra ra tho! |

Actually, if you guys want to do some serious stirring, how about making a few contributions to this thread

matagi, there's nothing that could be said on that thread that could possibly help. Its intelectual content is on the same level as the Titanic and just as likely to be raised.

I think our reknowned "biting Aussie wit" would get completely lost in that drivelfest....:) (NB: Drivelfest - excepting your contribution of course, matagi;) ) |
