Hey 531, did ya see the Cyfac Euro put together? It had like 7cm of spacers under the stem and 2 feet of post sticking out. His position was 'set up by a professional bike fitter and top 20 nationallly ranked rider'.

LOL

nah, missed it

perhaps Dad (Expat) can get out the pic out of the deleted thread for us :)

Dunno about these "professional fitters": they all obviously claim to be experts, charge a bazillion bucks, but many of them have totally different ideas

True enough.

At anything approaching decent race pace, centrifugal force would have you up on the fence in an instant. Woe betide anyone on your wheel.

Motorpacing was fun

You're refering to the photo biker7 doctored up. The actual photo of EURO's bike looked pretty dialed in by current standards, with about 2cm of headset spacers. I thought it was one of the nicest bikes I've seen posted here. The frame did look about 2-3cm to small to me, but then I have started to think Anquetil had a timeless position. ;)

I alway thought Ben Cousins was pretty spot on. If he is really EURO, well, maybe he just got fed up with the posers, but some of his posts seemed to be coming out sideways.

Australian Masters Champs venures have been sorted out. Gosford gets the Road Race venue, Penrith Regatta Centre gets Road TT, everything else is at DGV.

Godverdomme Walter. How did you find your way in here? :)

No, I saw both pics. I was referring to the original photo. It looked fuggin stupid IMO. It had way more than 2cm of spacers, plus had the stem sticking up in the air. The stem looked like it had a stiffy.

You're right - 2-3cm too small at least.

Zeer mooi fietser??

(now someone post a damn pic...I love Cyfacs)

classic1 is right, that is a weird set-up, nice enough looking frame though. Must have a short torso ?

531Aussie 12-19-05 10:35 PM

that's funny (the top one)

ed073 12-19-05 10:46 PM

I didn't know John Kennedy had a UK office....

Thanks Expat.

Good call Ed!

'Farmgate' is the operative word.

My oath....clearly Eros Poli is coming out of retirement.

That is a gorgeous frame. It looks like it's set up for Van Hooydonck though.

Gino or Edwig? :D

(Dammit....you posted a pic, rendering my piss-poor attempt at a joke redundant.....)

waltergodefroot 12-19-05 11:11 PM

Edwig was ahead of his time. He would have fit right in with today's frame setups. :)

classic1 12-19-05 11:19 PM

Yep, the old 'a la Freuler' Colnago would work.

My oath....like Classc sez, the dropped by one inch top tube and about 3 feet of seatpost hanging out suited him nicely.

Didn;t that old Superconfex team seem to be made up exclusively of mega-tough nuts?? No suntanned, shoe-cover wearing, iPod listening, white shoe wearing pretenders there....

531Aussie 12-19-05 11:51 PM

indurain had something similar

I had one of those stems on my Merckx....ITM something or another. Weighed about as much as a housebrick.

The shape always reminded me of one of the Aliens about to uncurl itself as Ripley blasts it with a flamethrower.....

Jeez I'm a nerd.

LOL, they all wore the white Time shoes with the red straps... :D

Great team though. I liked Frans Maassen. The story is he only ever pulled out of one race in his whole career, and I think that was because his father died. Incredible.

ha...that's what they reminded me of too:p

I've still got one

Ha ha, the doctored version looks like the Colnago C50 a friend of mine was riding for a while. He normally rides a 62, but the biggest Colnago he could get at the time was a 58 and he was running a mile of spacers and a super long stem. It looked like a mountain bike frame when he was on it with the seat post sticking way up as well.

He's on a custom Serotta frame now that's a much better fit.
