Tried really hard to get the taste for American beer. But its just too sweet, and watery. The very first thing im going to do when i get back home is walk to a pub and order a cascade or a boages, watch an over of cricket, and eat a meat pie. :)

I don't know how anyone can drink coldies. Far too weak for my taste. Sure its kind the next day, but ive always favoured my tasted buds over my brain anyway :)

jeez, where in the US are you Flak, no good beer? Microbrews are the way to go. I found hundreds of them over there.

In scotland your choice is typically lager or heavy... brand dont matter to most.

Almost caused a riot when I returned with a hotch-potch of Tooheys red, MB and other assorted crap beers ( I really didnt know better).
I naturally refused to go back and swap them all for their beer of choice calling them aussie softcocks!

Theres some good microbrews, Great Lakes, Rock Bottom, and Rocky River Brewing Co. are 3 of my favs. But you usually have to go down to them to get a drop. Great Lakes is the only one i regularly find in the shops. They have some other good beers too. Edmund Fitzgerald, Burning River Ale, Christmas Ale (only available Nov - Jan).

Dortmunder. It's no.1 on my list, and no.1 in my fridge most of the time. I do mix it up with some of the more commercial imports, mainly because the wife doesnt like the microbrews, and Americans in general are afraid of unfamiliar beer so i need something company can drink without protest :)

hi folks, have not riden the bike (any) since Saturday, have done nothing really. My legs hurt so bad, from walking around so much instead.

Mrs had a baby boy yesterday, 4.38kgs (poor woman), so I can only assume my legs will hurt more and more. Mabye change my username to was_cyclist for the next few weeks.

If I don't ride the bike, I seem to get really bad pain, swelling, torn muscles a bit and even cramps. I stretch each night, but am getting a bit sick of the pain. I was a downhill skier in a former life and was around 112kg's, last 10 years of road riding has got me down to low 90's (I'm 195cm tall). It was all in the quads and my bum. Legs still hurt so bad sometimes, I can not get them to do a circle to spin the pedals around?? just bored and complaining really.

Oi! The beer thread. Don't know what's available in Utah, but the Corona we get over here is piss. Miller Genuine Draft was my brew of choice in the states. Pacifico was another favorite. Any of the micro brews were usually good enough for me. Rum and Coke, Seven and Seven, or good tequila were my usual substance to abuse. I don't mind the Bundy OP with Coke here.

Was, congrats on the kidlet, sorry you don't get to ride much. I waited until my son was 8 weeks old before he went in the trailer behind my bike.

Tell you the truth, if I'm not trying to blow my head off with a strong drop, I like the Tooheys and Kent olds. Carlton Black is good to. I can drink that **** all day and night and end up sweet as a nut the next morning. Although I hazard the taste of the stuff might be a little to far away from the stuff you prefer.

I can't really remember many beer brands from the USA, remember being the guy who never got carded at 18 years old. Was always going to the shop for everyone, usually a drink tax so I got smashed all the time (maybe why I never made it in sport??). Breckenridge CO has an awsome micro brewery though, can remeber that.

Started going to the states when I was 16, so I was already having a drink at the beach with my mates then trying to sneak into the local pub. Got to the USA and the drinking age was so far from 16, that it was a big deal to buy beer and get drunk. Think I managed to buy beer at 7-11 back then.

The trailer we had was from the US, and I don't recall the brand. The boy is nearly 15, so I have an excuse. I do know Giant makes the Pea Pod (about AU$500) that will take 2 kids. We took the whole baby seat - you guys call them pods - and strapped it into the trailer. I put some knobbies on it and even took him off road after a few months.

Corona here tastes like piss too. Actually, all beer made in the USA tastes like piss. Scratch that- all beer tastes like piss. :-/

I used to buy Tuborg beer in Croatia, you can get it here now. Good pilsner. When I tasted domestic US beer, I compared the taste with catpiss mixed with toothpaste, based purely on speculation. I think Molson was allright though? I would go to Boulder CO alot and remember partys where heaps of guys would walk around drinking huge cans of fosters.

I wondered about that at the time :p How did you like the M7?

Sierra Nevada was a good micro brew. Same with Newcastle pale. There was a boutique store near me that sold all sorts of good beers from around the world. You could get a mini keg for less than $20. One summer, they had all the fruity light summer beers - plum, apricot, apple, etc. They went quite well with the apple and turkey sausages.

Now back to the beer thread: drank a lot of corona back when it was cool and trendy to do stupid things like that. Always with lemon tho. I drank one without lemon in it for the first time last year and nearly puked. It's bloody vile.
