Tomalaris watch, seems to think cycling is not truly international without a Protour race outside Europe.

Guess which race he thinks should be Protour. Tour Down Under.

Does this man know anything about cycling? *rhetorical.

You were doing the Alpine this year? Poor bastid. Probably one of the maniacs trying to take me out as I was climbing falls when they were descending. I rekon 10 beers after going out to falls and back would have killed me. You obviously still had a lot of steam left. Oh well. You probably would have just stacked it on some wet tar coming off Buffalo and went off a cliff, so best to kill your kidneys instead. :)

Last I heard, it was painted, and he was starting the reassembly. Don't know what colour. Oh, the beloved Frenchman is still being difficult.

climbo 01-29-06 08:56 PM

so why does anyone shop there? and how does he make any money?

jock 01-29-06 09:16 PM

He used to sell a lot of second hand & refurbished stuff, dunno whether he still does. Big market for beach cruisers in that area, so refurbed single-speeds with rear pedal brakes are ideal. Guys who lug boards under their arm are particularly fond of step thru's. Could be just a fettish, I dunno.

mrkott3r 01-29-06 11:15 PM

painted green, 3/4 of the way through, cant find front cones that fit so Im gonna have to use the old (had it) ones until I can find ones that do.

Frenchy sells a lot of his older bikes rebuilt, and makes a bit doing repairs, he was the only guy that would true my rear wheel. I think he's specialty is wheels seeing how many he has. He stocks a lot of older school stuff where Hadleys, Civics etc dont. I would see him about ss/fg bikes. Ill probably buy my next set of tyres off him

By the way Im not too sure on gear cable tension, any links/tips?

I admit I hated mine when I got it, (came with the new GT) but I thought I'd persevere cause everyone reconed they were goos and now I luv the thing. Better than my Italia Flight TT

You ride on the w/e Jock?

Brian 01-30-06 04:54 AM

Geez Kotter. Shift into the smallest gear, and pull the cables tight. It's all you need to know. And there's 100 threads in the mechanics forum that say the same thing. If you want to come over and help pack for a few hours, I'll put your bike back together for you. Should take about 25 minutes, if I don't talk while I do it. :D

lotek 01-30-06 01:14 PM

Haven't really been. I do miss South Africa though.
Wouldn't mind some time on bondi beach or some extended
dive time on the barrier.
was supposed to go (work) but contracts fell through.

Yup, I finally got a race in, but not before missing the start of the Hunter Districts crit on Fri night. Knocked off work at 2:30 and careened up the hwy, only to run low on petrol 15 minutes from the start line. Pulled in and topped her up only to have to wait in a queue for 12 mins while the numb-nuts behind the counter plodded along at his own merry pace. Game over.

Anyway, had a solid hit out on Sunday. Tried a few things out and had a pretty good chance at a win until I fell for the oldest trick in the book like a C Grade noob. Got suckered into bridging a little gap at the top of the climb on the last lap and they sat up. Momentum took its course and yours truly inherited the honour of leading the pack to the line. Not enough legs left to charge away from them. Oh well, another day another lesson learned. Getting sick of learnin stuff. :(

climbo 01-30-06 03:50 PM

Boonen unstoppable already this year I see, 2 out of 2.

Jock - all that way for no race, that really sucks. How was the crowd on Sunday - usual numbers?
