Hey Sacco, do you know if I can get Carlton Black down here, and is
it expensive?

True that. He's quite a funny bugger as well, as seen when he was commentating on the ashes. Still bowls pies though.

As for the Black, I'd say you'd have to. Don't know if dark beers aren't popular down there though as that'd be the only thing keeping it out of pubs. And no, it's the same price as VB or New. Nice drop. Tell me what you think if you can find it. ;)

BTW, it's best out of the tap.

That would be a mark of accomplishment then though. ;)

Bludy oaf he is. They just should ban offspiners bowling ones that go the other way. As soon as you hear about some dude doing that you know he's flapping his elbows worse than the Thunderbirds.

531Aussie 01-05-06 08:21 PM

call me tight, but I don't paying more than 15 bucks for half a dozen

Nah. Fair rule that. Which is why I always buy cartons. :)

Bowling looks funny to me. It doesn't help that the first time I saw cricket, it was at a company picnic, and the Pakistanis were playing in their Sunday Clothes. There's no amount of macho Warnie posturing that can erase that image.

Where that at? Watching Alan Donald bowl would have erased that image no worries. Beautiful action old Al.

mrkott3r 01-05-06 08:30 PM

Dennis Lillie/Courtney Walsh are my favourite fast bowling actions.

badsac 01-05-06 08:34 PM

Yeah, not bad. I just loved the way Al was like a spring unwinding at the crease. The jump into his delivery stride looked perfect. I would have loved to see a speed gun on him when he was in his prime.

:p

[Edit] Thought of a better captain.

Go Saccy!!!!! Warnie is only a St Kilda reserves footy reject anyway.

I played baseball, so my delivery was a bit different. Think Nolan Ryan, without all the speed. :D

True that. Wonder if he ambled after the ball like he ambles to the crease? Did I say he's a lazy fat bum?

Yeah, but that's a game full of cheats. They all bend their elbows!

So you flung them like Nolan. Just looked at a video of him. He chucks them like everyone else don't he? How much variation can you get with a baseball chuck?

I pay someone to fill in all the (huge) knowledge gaps and steer me on the correct course. I hate having to fork out the dosh, same as I hate having to pay for electricity or the phone. But I don't know enough to get to where I wanna get any other way.

jock 01-05-06 08:43 PM

For anyone interested in the ongoing LA saga. It's old, but interestin readin.

Hey, anything for a smaller strike zone. It's not like we were throwing the ball at some sticks :D .

There's really only 2 or 3 variations. But they seem more fluid and simple. Bowling looks like an epileptic spewing a ball. With apologies to anyone that may offend.

Thar intarweb of course! Look at all the geniuses on here handing out advice for free. They'd get you onto the big European teams in no time. ;)

Well, that's more a reflection on how farked the batters are. Pissy little strike zone so you know where the balls going to be. If you can't hit that, what hope is there for yers?

As an aside, my sister who spends a lot of time in the US rekons if they want to get the US interested in cricket, they should make up a video of fast bowlers hitting batters in the head and stuff. Preferably West Indians smacking up poms. Then distribute it to all the gangsters running around over there and emphasise how they get to hurt white fellas for free. She rekons they'd love that. Probably to unPC for over there though.

Jocks wondering why that sounds strangely similar to what e got from his coach for $250 this week. ;)

Aussies are still ahead of the required RR, aren't we???

My brain would fry trying to put all the different opinion together into something meaningful. I researched my little heart out on the www thing when I started back riding. I had lotsa useful bits of info, but no way to get them to connect.

That's what some Yanks miss with cricket: at times it's a very violent, and therefore, exciting sport to watch. Imagine if Nolan Ryan (showing my age?) was ALLOWED to hit batsmen all over the body like cricket bowlers are??!!
