My nerve issues subsided enough to do a fun little tempo ride this morning. 72 miles, 7300' climbing, and just a couple tenths off of a 19mph average. The ride abruptly ended when I smoked the sidewall on my pricey Aero 111 tire, luckily that happened just around the corner from my house.
On a positive note, I managed to feel like I was out on Safari:

On a self-imposed exile. Yesterday I was climbing a steep pitch on my mtb and shifted into the spokes so the chain got stuck between the large cog and spokes. Of course, the crank just stopped and since I was barely moving, so did the bike. I'm very high up on that thing, so a long way to fall to the side. Thought about dropping the saddle but it was too late. Got unclipped and stuck my foot out and landed very hard, almost rolling my ankle.. Hurt pretty bad and I had to fix the chain and ride home. Almost all downhill but still hurt on every bump and the worst was trying to unclip to cross over a gate and again at home.
It swelled up and turned green, then some other colors. Been hobbling around the house using a cane that Mrs John had. frack

Hip issues are the worst. I've been dealing with what I assume is sciatica issues, off/on for the last couple of years, which mostly manifests itself has hip pain. I've been feeling pretty good after a pro bike fit last season, but the hip pain returned this week...hip pain, knee pain, and then occasional tingling down my leg/into my foot. I blame this current flare up of issues on getting back into running for the season and doing too long of runs. I think my cycling fitness is my own worst enemy in regards to running, I go for a run and think to myself how easy it feels, but then my lower body feels thrashed once I cool down from the run.
Hope yours resolves and stays away,

club TT on Sunday. Gonna do the 35+ 20 km. Hoping to go sub 27 min which is also coincidentally 27 MPH. Weather looks like it may permit that, we'll see. Took it out this morning and just did a chill 1x30' at a light sweet spot, 'bout 40w below race pace. Felt fine. I'm mostly resting up this week so didn't want to overdo it.

I had the weirdest sidewall puncture on my BMC last weekend. I had the rear wheel off and in my lap while running a rag through each of the sprockets when out of nowhere, I hear a small hissing come from the tire. While I was holding it. Move it around until I find there's a teeny tiny puncture in the sidewall with some scuffing around it, must have ridden a bit too close to something. Thing is, last time I rode it was at least two months ago and it held air the whole time since. Moved the wheel so sealant could get into the puncture and I got lucky, the stuff didn't spray out and I had just aired up the tires before the leak made itself known. Tiny bit of sealant poked through and immediately dried, no mess.

I had sciatica and can really sympathize. What helped and ultimately stopped it was an ultrasound guided cortisone shot with the longest needle I had the displeasure or seeing. But it really worked for me, so I would do it again. If it reoccurs.
Hope yours resolves and stays away,

Part of my issues last year, is due to work and life circumstances, I wasn't able to really do my off-season strength training. I felt like I was fighting with injuries all season long...my power on the bike rebounded well, but the joints and connective tissue just weren't quite at the same level.
