Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well, like any national champion, sprinter, polka dot, or professional cycling team jersey, you really shouldn't wear a MLB, NBA, NHL or NFL jersey unless you actually earned it by playing for the team!

Well see! That's why I won't wear any pro jersey, cycling related or not. I don't need anybody backslapping me in public. Only thing I will wear is an AC/DC jersey. And that's because I play lead guitar in the studio for those Milli Vanilli type bands!

I wish!

At least most cyclists, when they are wearing a team kit, are at least cycling. How many folks wearing other sports jerseys actually play those sports (20 years ago in High School doesn't count). It's like the idiocy of spectators wearing tennis outfits to Wimbledon.

In the case of my Toronto Maple Leafs jersey, I figure that the guys wearing the real ones can't play hockey either, so I'm OK.

Are you kidding? It's not like cycling is the nation's top sport. I see a ton more football players, baseball players etc, than cyclists. Drive by a park ona weekend, it's packed with players and maybe two cyclist refilling their botles. I bet the number of football players easily out numbers the cyclist. Half the kids and adults that go to a baseball game play ball, incuding the women.

There may be more people who play those sports, but the vast majority of folks wearing sports jerseys in this country do not actively participate in any sports. I would argue that most fans would drop dead if they had to run the bases or 100 yards.

As far as I can determine NFL license fees are outrageous so you most likely won't ever see any of those.

That's unfortunate, cause I'd love to have a Viking's cycling jersey.
