Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tequila Joe, thanks .
Weighed in at 14.2lb without pedals and computer. Looking into Zero-G brakes and a Fizik saddle if I find the carbon shell SLR saddle unsuitable.

I finally got some pics of my new Seven Alaris. I just got it and was able to put about 150 miles on it before cold weather set in here in Kentucky. Anyway, here she is:

The 3/4 rear view does it every time.
Build Sheet shows the length of seatpost exposed at 203mm which is where it is set

Here's another one of my own bikes. Recently built up again:

And here is another customer's bike, with an extended seatpost, it's not something we do or see everyday:

Blatant self promotion over.

The seatposts on these sloping tube geometry bikes are made to be taller because that's what's required for this geometry. Their length is a little misleading, because of the sloping TT and because of the tall head tube. Better way to observe relative height is to measure drop from saddle to bars.

Why would someone want to do that? Is there any advantage?

I would have thought that a good seat post would be lighter than the extra tubing.

That's an extended seat tube, not seat post.

And that's weird. I don't get it - why?

One shot he's got FSA Cranks right? The other I can't tell - didn't realize Soul puts their name on cranks. The pedals look like Time.

How do you like them Topolinos? Does it dampen any road chatter?

Neuter!!! Good one - I wanted to see how light I could go. It was a project I started for fun last winter. Got it under 13lbs and I must say it accelerates faster, especially shooting uphill. I used it for my MS150 training rides when I was not in the tandem with the wife and was able to keep up with mid pace riders. It was more fun than I imagined it would be

They damp the hell out of everything! If you're after chatter damping and relaxed sportive riding, pick up a pair. If you plan on racing them, look elsewhere(read: flexy).

2001 Colnago OvalMaster that I built with 9 speed DA derailleurs, Ultegra STI, and 105 brakes. It's sharing the Nimble Spider wheelset with my old school CF Miyata. A bit more color than most

I have the Litespeed since late 04

and decided I wanted to go a step farther not that there's anything wrong with the Litespeed. The Litespeed is a great bike and the Litespeed was and still my primary ride. I just received this couple of weeks ago which will be my winter project. I have been doing a lot of research and tossing around the idea and a want & desire for another bike which was the heavy hitters of titanium - Serotta, Seven, Guru, Dean, Moots, Eriksen, Spectrum, Titus as all were great, but at the end as I had to choose one and the end I have chosen a Seven.
