Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: See sig.

Sorry for the thread res

Just threw on new (matching, this time around!) tires and a NOS 5502 crankset. I was thinking about getting new chainrings and realized that a new crank would be about the same cost :-P so there you go.

2002 Lemond Victoire.

Great bike. I would like to upgrade the crankset this year though.

Decided to go for a white stem and post with black saddle, tape and hoods combination. I tried a black Thomson Masterpiece but didn't like the looks si now it's off to BCP to be painted in the same matt white color as the frame. Hope it returns from the painter soon but no hurry considering the weather overhere in Amsterdam.

Also got myself a new set of classic looking wheels for the upcoming early season kilometers: Record hubs, 32 DT comp spokes and Mavic Open Pro ceramics, with Vittoria Corse Evo-SC tires. Can't do much wrong on the cobbles with those...

BEAUTIFUL. It is the bike that I originally sought for, down to the color; except that I can't justify the price tag.

I thought the red Kings HS would look better, since you have red decals and hubs.

Thanks! I thought the silver headset would compliment the stainless spokes, D-A brakes and the silver Chris King BB. I'm not ruling a red headset out in the future. After all, both bike and rider are works-in-progress, no?

I built this Lynskey up last summer. What a smooth and comfortable ride. Negative G brakes, SRAM Force drivetrain and levers, Dura Ace wheels, Thomson Masterpiece post and stem, Specialized carbon bars.

^ Nice. Curious though, why the downward stem and giant stack of spacers? Why not cut the steerer, lose the spacers (or most of them at least) and use a stem angled to the position you want? Seems like at least 40mm of spacers, maybe more, which could be too much for the fork.

Actually, I think it looks accentuated with the design of Affixed's (Thompson?) stem, but having a negative angle stem works in conjunction with the angle of the steerer to produce a horizontal orientation/reach of the stem body. Here is the similar effect with the ITM stem on my Litespeed:

You're right. I need to get around to doing that.

Very sharp!!.. Also add points for the splitface block wall. From this point forward, no Ti bike should ever be pictured in front of a flimsy, ugly, white garage door!

I'm guilty of the garage door post... I like the clean background, so (LOL) here's some stucco:

I so dig DuraAce 7800! Love the clean lines. I just received all my parts for my next frame build, and it will be DA 7800. DA7900 just doesn't do it for me.

Yeah, for me 7900 goes better with modern carbon frames and 7800 looks good on steel, titanium or other frames with round tubes.
