Why does Trek get bashed so much?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not necessarily.....cars can usually clock higher speeds in turns than bikes, all things being equal.

What do cars or motorcycles have to do with Trek bicycles?

Do you read the thread before you post?

You might end up looking like less of an idiot if you started.

I've read the thread. I've watched it disintegrate into boys talking about cars, which is even less interesting than the way it started.

I'm just saying that the charming "KrisPistofferson" was prophetic.

He does have a way with words.

And growing with every post like yours. Look, people bash Trek because they are somewhat of the standard. Everyone wants to be unique and/or appear smarter than the standard so they bash Trek and tout a competitor. They think this will make them look smarter.

No. Lance Armstrong dominated for 7 years straight. He would have done the same on any bike in the peleton. Having said that, any bike thats good enough for tour ridding MUST be an inherently good bike...but the fact that someone won on it doesn't make it BETTER than the other bikes in the peleton, it just means that the rider was better.

Wonder why he never traded with any other riders than during the tour? Does Lance not like to share?

Hey, now, you're the one who gave yourself the "bonehead" moniker. After a post equating Trek with Huffy, I'm just stating the obvious corollary.

You're missing the point. This is the internet. It was designed for arguing.

This just in....all cycling manufacturers, be they bike manufacturers, accesory manufacturers, clothing manufacturers, or whatever else, gouge us. Take alot at universal sports products, such as sunglasses and such....then throw the word "cycling" into the description....instant price gouging. I still wonder why some people pay $150.00 for a pair of sunglasses, unless they are prescription.

The fact is....99% of cyclists (myself included) willingly bend over and take it everytime we buy something for our sport.

Cheers,,

CRIPES!

I am sick of you fools using Lance's tour wins to justify Trek!

LANCE won the tour 7 times. NOT Trek.

He's even got a book called "It's Not About the Bike".

So if I buy $150.00 sunglasses it makes it ok to buy a $10k Trek?

You say that like he wasn't bound by a sponsorship agreement and forget that he rode a Litespeed in a couple time trials anyway.

Also, Cypress has it right. Trek didn't win those Tours, Lance and his team did. It's all about the motor, not the bike.

Wow. Yer pretty high-strung. Yer upset at Trek for being popular and trying to make money, upset at people for associating Lance's TDF wins with the company who made his bike...

Chill out, my man. It's just cycling.

Very true, Lance probably could have won the TDF on my old J.C. Higgins 10 speed from Sears Roebuck. Like the old woman's pantyhose ads used to say on TV, "Nothing beats a great pair of legs".

I plan on buying Cervelo stock as soon as I can. I can't wait for them to come out with a $15,000 stock Soloist so the midlife crisis arm-chair enthusiasts can be "cyclists" too.

If you want to...yes. And who am I, or anyone else to judge you for it. You were the one who brought up price gouging, and we, as cyclists get gouged on eveything cycling related that we buy. I still try to justify why an entry level road bike has to cost $600+.

You can spend your money however you want.

Sheesh.
