Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Read the original post, and if your reading comprehension is up to the task, the point will be obvious. However your request to thanks you does drain me of all hope.

This thread has become the Idiot Magnet. How entertaining is that?

did you buy the cleat covers? Buy the cleat covers before you:

1. Slip on a tile floor at the next starbucks and then have to explain how your "bike related injury" involved hot latte in your face.

2. Wear the cleats down after walking on them for a week, then post a "pcad hates KKKEO's" thread

Cleat covers are for Fred. Pcad does not walk on his cleats, he rides is bicycle in them, and he does perfect track stands at the very rare red light or STOP signs he does not poach. Dabbing is for wussie. Pcad also does not keel over in clipless pedals, never has and never will, unlike the uncounted minions here who seem so baffled by this incredibly simple act of coordination acumen.

Not nearly enough. Pcad needs to enhance Pcad's ego.

The potential of amping up Pcad's ego any further:

Those who say it may be shoes could be right. I'll do a 110 mile ride next week and see how it goes.

You'll go back to Speedplay's. I switched from Keo's to Speedplay and won't be looking back anytime soon. Couldn't stand how fast the cleats wore out and how dangerous they were to walk in. Yes I had cleat covers but you shouldn't have to always use them.

I also have much, much more float with my Speedplays and it's helped my knees quite a bit.

Perhaps. That's why I'm keeping the Speedplays. This hot spot issue is a big deal on these long rides. I may well get a new pair of shoes soon (I'm due) and keep them with the Keo cleats - and use those shoes with the Keo pedals on the longer rides. That's if they eliminate the hot spots. We'll see.

One thing I've learned about cycling gear/position and physical issues - they vary so much between individuals that all these people saying 'it's the shoes' make me laugh. The proof is in the riding.

Must be why these guys, and this team is suffering so much.

Been on Looks since they were invented. Attached to Sidis until Cannondale started giving me Diadoras to ride in.

To infer that your hotfoot is the result of poor pedals, Einstein (the guy that fitted a tt bike with pictures and advice from this forum) would show that, indeed, you really don't know what you are doing. Every person can be fitted to any pedal if they have some knowledge of what they are doing or can actually bring themselves to ask for assistance and admit they really have no clue at all.

But, hey, the bike shop saw you coming and made another sale...cha ching...

BTW...float is for wussys.

I had a chicken breast sandwich on multi-grain, with lettuce, tomato, beetroot and cheese for lunch today. Plus a V8 vegetable juice.

I didn't eat lunch. I had a late breakfast after a ride, timing it so I could get back and watch the Manchester United/Chelsea match on Fox Soccer.

Chelsea's really screwed up right now.

But I'm an Arsenal fan.

I'm not a Fred. I don't do track stands because I probably would keel over. I don't keel over when walking in cleats. I do get pissed off when the front tip of my cleat breaks off while I'm 30 miles from home and way before it gets to the wear indicator...ergo cleat covers.

Having said that, I think you'll like the Keo's, bad knee and all. I have bad feet/ankles and thought that the red 9 degree cleats would be the way to go but I've found the gray 4.5's to be more than enough. Good luck with the new pedals.
