Pcad goes Keo after 15 years on Speedplay X's

I didn't mention me riding on hills but you are correct. There are zero hills on LI. I am just suggesting to try a pedal that seems like it would fit the bill for you. To dismiss it for the petty fact that it is 120 grams to "heavy" seems silly. But its your money, your bike, and your pain.
Pcad speaks with authority on this issue. Ask my wfe. When I told her the transition over to Keo for the Pcad Bicycle Fleet would cost about $800, but that this expense would be offset by selling my old Speedplay X's, and that it would evolve over the next 9 months, she looked at me as if I had completely lost my mind.
My Mom is a divorce attorney. She has told me many times that she will represent my wife in any future dissolution of our marriage. I have no doubt that bike schwag expenditures can and would be used against me in such a dispute, and so will these BF posts. If I never mentioned any of this to my wife, she'd never even notice. Pcad is too honest.

So it is extremely obvious you should blow more money and pick up another pair of pedals. I think you know what you should try next. Dura Ace PD-7810. They are 40 grams lighter then the ultegra. So instead of 120 grams slowing you down it will be 80 grams. Not sure if that is still to much weight.

I have been a SpeedPlay guy since 2000 and have never looked back. I guess it depends on the dynamics of your individual fit, cleat placement, anatomny, pedal style, etc. My knee problems dissapeard when I went to X-2. (I purchased a barely used set set from a friend) I was impress with the Keo's when I first saw them, but the price was a bit steep. No wear factor, and I find them perfectly adequete for my sidi-clad foot. Maybe it works differently for other shoes. I have large feet, (I wear a size 50-European) so I can't find quality shoes in many manufacturers.
This is a personal matter. What works for you may not work for me, etc.

I have concluded 2 things from this thread. Either 1) I have misread Pcad in my months here on BF and he is not someone who says everything at least a little tongue-in-cheek with a good sense of humor and wit, or 2) there are a lot of people on here who lack in either a sense of humor or find Pcad's self-loathing wit in regard to bicycle stuff hits a little close to home so must attack him. My guess is #2 (really 2a&b).
Pcad, to you I say keep posting, hero of the weenies. I need a good laugh.
Oh, and the answer is to go with cheap keo knock-offs with cleats that don't break, even when walking up and down crappy stairs to my office.

I always like to give people just a little room for improvement.
Actually, in most performance reviews, I'm always just a little bit too nice at times. He may actually only really be 98.999%

Uh--huh.
Btw, there are 3 different cleats--red, grey, black (in decreasing amount of float). I tried the red... way too much float for this boy. I use grey. Black was good too, but seemed more brittle, and then actually cracked on me during a morning bike commute to work. Back to the grey.
Also, if you ever do want to go the sock route, double-layered WrightSocks are the way to go. I used to use them for marathon running and they work really well in cycling shoes too.

As I mentioned, I'll ride 110 miles on Saturday, a ride that's always gotten those hot spots to fire off. If they pass that test, I'll switch over to them on my 3 bikes. I'll probably do it anyway, I like the clip in/out action and the solid platform more than the Speedplays. Besides, this is the hot new bike schwag, and Speedplays are the been there/done that bike schwag.*
* This last statement constitutes the real and truthful reason Pcad procured this latest cycling accoutrement, all previous allegations, justifications, explainations, scenarios and bull**** presented by Pcad should be ignored for the static that it essentially is. Well, OK, my feet do hurt on long rides and I really want this to help. For God's sake, I went to my wife's nail salon and had them file down the callouses on the bottom of my feet last year. I felt like that big monster in the Bugs Bunny cartoon that gets the perm:
