Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I got a bunch of gift cards so I can finally put the last payments down on my new Felt S22 Tri bike. Got a new helmet and all the accessories I asked for and more. I'd list them, but it might take a while! What can I say? I'm loved!! Can't wait to go pick up the bike tomorrow even though we got 6 inches of snow on Sunday!! It'll be hooked up to the trainer within minutes of arriving home in order to try out my new spinervals DVD. Have a good one!!!!

I got to do a Christmas Eve night ride with 8 of my closest cycling friends.....on fixies of course....we rode down the coast and looked at all the killer Christmas Lights on the homes then we all went to my place had some drinks and watched TDF DVD"S until about midnight.
This morning I rode again with 4 close cycling friends and my girlfriend on the tandem and spent the rest of the day with my family.
I also got a full Record 10 group with Zero Gravity Brakes........pretty sweet Christmas....rides with friends both days....some family time....and now it's time to put the new parts on!!!

Since my wife and I both work for the fire department, we did Christmas this morning with our son.
I made out like a bandit.

Jittery Joes jersey
Park multi-tool
Cleat covers (in response to me falling on my butt while wearing cycling shoes)
Road side flat kit and spare tube and seat bag to put it in
Assorted jelly beans (energy kind)
Energy gel packs
Carmicheal training video for my trainer
An Ipod nano
50 dollar trek gift card

and that I will be skinny and competitive one day (I've only had my bike for about 2 months and it's my first---ever) according to my 11 yr old son.

I got:

Rollers (My dad, being the evil one, made me a note trail that I had to follow to find it)

Heart rate monitor (83 BPM right now)

Gor-Tex Balaclava

I also got these nice, wool fingerless gloves/ mittens. They have a flap that covers your fingers to keep them warm, but you can pull it back so you can work on something without having your entire hand freeze

My partner surprised me with the new bike that was supposed to be still being built at LBS...

Look 555
Chorus groupset
Ksyrium Elite wheels
FSA Steerer, stem, carbon seatpost
Selle Italia saddle

So I had to go and buy Keo Ti pedals and Sidi Ergo 2 shoes!

Pics to follow soon when I can find a white garage door...

You have the cyclist's version of Santa's workshop! It's amazing!

What make is that tandem? It's pretty, and I love the bar tape. Very sharp!

She's the absolute best and is obviously very supportive of my "habit".

Still have tons of boxes to unload, parts to organize and tools to hang but damn oh damn am I a very happy man. Merry Christmas to me!!!!!!

Most importantly, I slipped my black HTFU braclet onto the stem. I think it'll be a constant reminder to keep pushing towards my personal biking goals (I got lazy at the end of '07).

I also upgraded my Ultegra9 to DA10 and made the switch from clinchers to tubies.

I can't wait for good riding weather! It's been snowing off and on for a week with another week forecasted. Winter sucks. Is it March, yet?
