That's incredibly sad. I only corresponded with him a couple of times via e-mail but he was both incredibly helpful and kind.

Sheldon was a breath of fresh air. What a good guy--condolences to the family.

This still cracks me up every time I read it. Especially when someone (like me) takes it seriously.

I learned a lot from Sheldon's articles. Condolences to his friends and family. RIP. :(

+1.

Wow. I was JUST in Harris buying a new Bike on Saturday when someone was asking about him. Too bad. I'd exchanged emails with him a couple of times about bike related questions and he was always very cordial, polite, and prompt in his response.

That's terrible; like burning down a library. The cycling community has lost the ultimate "in it for the right reasons bike guy." Sincerest condolences to his family.

So true

Sheldon was the best among us. The last thing the world needs right now is to lose another good man. While we mourn him, we should also celebrate his life. How many of us will live and die so well?

Couldn't have said it better. +1000

How terribly sad to hear.

Thank you Sheldon.

explody pup 02-04-08 01:21 PM

Condolences to his family.

He was a very positive presence in any discussion he took place in. He even took the time to answer some of my dumb questions. I hope someday I'll be able to contribute to anything even half as much as he has contributed to cycling.

mattm 02-04-08 01:22 PM

damn, that's sad as f*ck.

neilfein 02-04-08 01:22 PM

This is not a good start to February. He'll be missed.

huytheskigod 02-04-08 01:22 PM

His articles have contributed to a great deal of my bike knowledge. He will definitely be missed. My condolences go out to his family.

RIP Sheldon, thanks for everything.

Very sad day.

Mr. Underbridge 02-04-08 01:27 PM

What a loss. I don't think I've ever encountered a better, more patient teacher of any subject. When I first came to this site I thought the user with his screen name had to be a fake. I couldn't believe anybody that well known would answer newbie questions. An amazing guy.

I use his site as my first source for....well, pretty much anything related to fixing my bike, learning about arcane and esoteric bikes and parts, and tons of other stuff.

amorrow 02-04-08 01:28 PM

Cheers Sheldon
