Since I got the bike I upgraded tubes and tires, handlebars, pedals, saddle, seatpost and I just received in the mail today Kinlin XR-200 rims and ultralight hubs from bikehubstore.com that will be built up and save quite a good amount of weight from my current Mavic Aksiums.

Started at 18.5lb, now around 17.4lb. New Wheelset should bring the complete bike with cages and computer to the 16 range. Thoughts?......

At first glance, I dismissed it as a "not". But after really looking, I like it.

My vote is "HOT"

Cool bike.

Thank you. The bottle cages are from Stradalli. Cages are around 18g each and come with water bottles.

I'd replace the white stem with a black one

Need to photograph it from the drive side. Also would recommend a natural classic curve bar vs anatomic, and Campy instead of Shimano. Also too many spacers under the stem and ditch the seat bag for the pic.

Potentially a hot bike though.

ruskko 11-07-11 03:32 PM

campy's cool if you wanna BLOW a bunch of money for nothing extra....

VA_Esquire 11-07-11 03:36 PM

^ Its a classic Colnago....It doesnt have to have Campy. IT NEEDS CAMPY!

ruskko 11-07-11 03:38 PM

not everyone can afford a 1300 groupset for the lower end stuff

Understood - but this is the hot or not thread. What you can or can't afford doesn't matter. Proper fit doesn't matter. A classic Colnago without Campy isn't as hot as one with IMO.

What makes this bike hot is the details. Love the crank and the saddle especially. Tires are a nice tie in too.

Thank you! I wanted to include the subtle accents of red without going too overboard. Hopefully I succeeded. Most importantly though, the bike is a fantastic ride and I love putting miles on it.

Functionally its awesome, but aesthetically could use some work. The F99 stem is awesome, but the polished look doesn't go with the rest of the frame. Also, I'd use a different crank, not necessarily rival, to match, but something not from the big 3.

nhluhr 11-12-11 02:51 PM

Oh cool the 90s are back. Maybe add some more color-coordinated anodized parts.

let the horses nay. I say hot.

Painful Chafe 11-12-11 04:09 PM

WooHoo!! Just got a set of Hollowgram SL/SI's for $300 in 9/10 shape with everything included.

I'll probably get them on tonight and post picts of my bike since a few things have changed.

The only slight problem is it is standard and I'd prefer compact. If anyone knows someone with a compact set and wants standard, let me know.
