i like the clean looks but it just needs something to put it over the top. maybe a gold chain to tie in the frame accent color?

valygrl 11-17-11 12:55 PM

Guess I'll put my CR1 SL on this page too, though I haven't because I think it's a "not" and I *still* haven't cut the steer tube even though I've had it since May. (there are reasons, but this is the Hot or Not thread not the excuses-why-it's-not-hot-thread).

Just under 15# with powertap clinchers. Size 47

Venge above (to avoid another copy of the picture), not hot:
- poor picture quality, not the best angle, date in the corner;
- poor tape job - you need to use the two provided pieces of tape to cover the space behind the hoods;
- not the best choice of tape colour - go for white, or white with red details such as Fizik Dual Tape;
- remove the magnet, sensor and computer when taking a picture for this thread.

Very close to hot though.

Actually the Romin saddle sort of pushes me forward without the tilt. Also the bike isn't really leveled up in the pic so its sort of an optical illusion.....It's no Colonago that's for sure!

Terry66 11-17-11 05:53 PM

what the heck....here is my budget "old man" bike. I didn't realize my saddle was that discolored. It isn't as sleek and sexy as some of the bikes on here, but I ride the hell out of it! There is a Tarmac on here that looks really similar to my Roubaix.

this COULD be hot, but as far as asthetics go I gotta say not. saddle color distracts from the base color of that bike(you already mentioned it was pretty discolored). I dont like the bar tape color. go with white. Even if it gets a little dirty, it will look better than the silver. I would also go with black bottle cages with some white accent. the seat to bar height makes it look off a bit, but I have no idea what your body is like. (but again I'm going off of straight asthetics here. the wheels are a nice compliment to the bike though.

Terry66 11-17-11 06:36 PM

Yep...had white tape then black and decided to go with something different last spring. Saddle is comfortable as hell and you can't really see it when I'm on it, so I'll stick with it for another year! Maybe scrub it down with bleach and try to clean it up a bit...

As far as the seat height, I am between size 54 and 56. A little longer torso. Opted for the 56 as it was a bit more comfortable....not to mention how tall the head tube is on the Roubaix. Then again, thats the reason I went with the Roubaix in the first place....Not too aggressive but still pretty cool looking. I am getting ready to order a matte black November frame and going to go with the 54. I should get a more aggressive ride and use it for some of the local TTs.

Interesting on the cages. I might give that a go over the winter. Getting ready to tear it down and go full Ultegra.

AH crap... Ok guys be gentle. I'm a novice with a low budget project (my first bike). Bought this in less than good aesthetic condition so the only things on the bike that are still original are the front and rear derailleurs, the frame (of coarse), and the brakes and bars (new tape). The parts that I bought were a small upgrade from the original parts and as times are hard, I can't buy a high end bike so I had a low budget on the upgrades. Did all of the work myself and made some adjustments with some help from members on this forum. I actually like the older bikes better so I am happy with this one. Well here it goes... I had a 55 bianchi but went with a 54 ridley for my second bike. the smaller bike felt better for me because i felt I had more control. I was looking at your bike again and thought switching out the white stem for a black stem and going with white tape would look good. the black from the frame would flow nicely with the balck stem and the white bar tape would be a nice seperation to break up the hoods from stem.

Hottest BMC I've ever seen.

...actually, I think Forza has one, doesn't he? If so, I need to be reminded, because that might be the hottest.

Quel has a hot BMC

This could be hot, but you're gonna get grilled because of how you photographed it. ;) Take all the attachments off the bike. All bags, lights, ect. and then photograph it against an even background in even shade.

Wooshie's Specialized is like a collection of really hot bits... but, as a whole, it just doesn't work for me.

+1. Shows that money does not always buy hot.
