Chippoforlife is my boss. I do not own this Corvid, My bike is actually much nicer. :thumb:

You guys can't see it yet tho, because it's being custom built for me over at Alchemy..

Almost every single bike Chippos posted, I've built myself, demo'd+ reviewed, including the dozens of much nicer/expensive bikes in our store..

P.s

The 80mm stem is needed because this bike is actually too big for me. I did how ever ride over 100km on this set up the day I shot this photo, and comfort wise I had almost no issue.

The thing that is visually jarring here is the wheel labels.

Very well done Lords. We have quite the pile of detectives who can sniff out any variance or similarities between pictures. Can't wait to see the new bike for you.

Awesome, I've liked just about every build he's posted over on WW, and can understand the 80mm stem as I run a 90 on my rig

I think it's hot, saved it to my pictures file. Definitely needs some altercations but as a whole, it's got a good "vibe" going with it like somebody said earlier. I'd like a front derailleur and brake, and a matching wheelset, and I'd be totally content with it. Looks like a bike that gets used :)

Then again I prefer metal frames over carbon functionally and aesthetically so I may be biased.

The angled stonework in Pic1 makes the TT slope look odd and the saddle seem tilted too far forward. It does slope a bit, but here's another pic so you get a different view.

Warmish? ;)

Steel is not hot? Too much 'retro-grouch' going on? Tough crowd!

Thanks a1penguin.

General consensus seems to be that if it doesn't have deep profile wheels, it is not hot.

For me, your bike is a couple spacers away (as in removing them) from being hot.

The barrier to greatness is rarely overcome. You have some obvious personal touches to the bike and we are not about personal insults here. My opinion of it runs along the lines that it isn't the best that bike could be. Sometimes that means taking some stickers off and in others it means a complete rebuild. To me one of the beautiful things about a steel bike is how adaptable the old style quill stems were to adjustment with a lessened degree of concern about extension above the headtube. I would take some convincing to find the marriage of a steel bike with carbon parts inviting enough to call it hot. Sorry, but there is a good chance it would be appreciated more in the post your road bike thread. BTW, I have two steel road bikes that have seen a lot of enjoyable usage on and off pavement and are assuredly in the not category. A few pages back there is a well conceived one that was right to be placed in this thread.

I would have openly laughed if he was rocking stripper shoes or a wing bar. I think you might agree that they have become so homogeneous they don't even matter as much as the sticker that may still be on them.

Theres too much annoying non-bike stuff in the photo.

VA_Esquire 12-25-11 12:21 PM

Hot, but I also have a soft spot for the Allez.

I would suggest changing the chainrings though....

Herbie53 12-25-11 12:39 PM

Christmas wheels, fitting (saddle and bars lower) and Red since last posted I think.....

The next thing on my list is the crankset, it's not even Apex, it's bottom of the barrel power spline.

trussdude 12-25-11 12:44 PM

Why no November wheels?

Sorry to be "that guy" who re-posts, but can I get any recommendations for doing the Not -> Hot move?

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7171/6...85efefc4_b.jpg

Or does the "High Performance Carbon" = eternal Notness?

The red tires don't match it. The frame pump makes the bike look cluttered and very small. The seat post with the such a thick section near the top makes it look very short, even though its already not very extended. The huge bars don't look proportional to the bike. The angle of the picture isn't very good. It's a cool bike, but those are the things I feel detract it from being a hot bike.
