FYI its a 6 degree flipped and 1 5mm spacer. And it's not even pointed down, it's flat as my saddle.

i think this shot doesnt fool my eyes as much. the big headtube and or cone and what appears to be a short stem just throw off the proportions. i like these though:

Not hot. Lose the Fred bars, the red tape and lower the stem. To be honest though the groupset colour kind of clashes with the frame.

adriano 03-11-12 08:53 AM

extremely not hot, but that doesnt mean its not wonderful.

The stealth black version of this bike was $300 more. couldnt afford it :(

Sounds like you are suggesting to go back to basics.. thought i'd try the red tape since the white was impossible to keep clean :( Will probably go for black. this is what it looked like originally. Cant do anything about the groupset :(

It has potential. try fizik microtex bartape. have a lot of colors and the material holds up really well. Mine has lasted me about 5k miles so far and they are still in really good condition. They have a really light grey option that would be an option for you. I wouldn't go black or red with that bike.

If you get black tape, switch to a black saddle. 99.9% of the time saddle and tape should match to earn a 'hot'. Also, don't take anything said on this thread personally. :)

In general I don't think light coloured frames look very good with the dark grey Shimano cranks, but there you go.

The perspective on this shot makes the bike look much more nicely proportioned. I now give it a Cholula rating.

can I solicit opinions on an upcoming bike build?
i'm getting a custom steel frame. I want it to be timeless and classy, and NOT the same black/red/white that every bike has. There are some really nice blues available, but I'm not sure i want a 100% blue frame.

I'm currently considering the following:
Anthracite Gray Metallic frame
Black carbon fiber fork/stem
White handlebar tape, cables, and decals
Anodized blue (e.g. Chris King) brakes/headset/BB

so, basically, metallic gray with a few dashes of blue.

I also have the option of chroming the chainstays/seatstays/lugs, but i'm leaning against it.

Here is the thread where i've been discussing it so far:
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ions-(big-pics)

would it be hot or not?

Not. Get road pedals and lose some spacers, then maybe. Also, whilst I like the Thomson post I don't think it suits this bike at all.
