Those bikes have always looked way too top heavy to me- like an anorexic with bolt ons.

Sorry, next time I'll correct the vignetting for you.

No, I will correct it next time. I never do.

This is a repost of the bike I built a couple of years ago. I ditched the dreadful "ergo" bars (ergo for who?) for a set of Nitto Noodles and added a nice polished Nitto 2 bolt seat post. I am of an age where I am not going to race, not going to pretend I am. When I started riding, bikes had skinny double butted steel tubing and level top tubes. Compact frames just look wrong to me. Not going to ride an awkward looking bike just to save a few ounces. On the modern side, I love indexed shifting and the ability to have close ratios and a wide range on the same bike. 105 shifters and derailleurs, Ultegra BB, compact crank and hubs, Mavic Open Pro rims, Tektro long reach brakes. The frame is made for long reach brakes so you can run wider tires. I am using 25mm. They roll well and are a bit smoother than the ultra narrows. Terry Liberator Y Gel saddle and Shimano A520 sport/touring pedals. Lezyne road drive pump. I got spoiled in the old days by the ubiquitous Zefal HP that actually worked. Most mini pumps today are useless. This one will actually inflate your tire. Their floor pumps are sweet too. I don't care if you don't like the amount of spacers. The frame has a short head tube and I want to be comfortable for a casual ride. I tried to go for the old style "7" one piece stem look with a polished VO stem and polished spacers.

I'll play with my first post. Got it about 3 years ago as my first entry-level roadie. Been racing it for the past 4 months now.
http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/2091/mybikeu.jpg Never liked those wheels but they kind of work here. I'd lose the red tyres - too much. |

ive always loved the looks of those soma stanyans. chrome lugs on black always look pretty. i would have done black tape, and im not a fan of the saddle's looks, but comfort trumps looks any day...all in all i like it.
