That Wilier is hot. I dig the Red Garmin too. Hopefully I get those guys into putting a red case on mine when I send it back to get the lcd replaced. The e46 on TE37s looks quite nice as well. Not a big Bimmer fan, but TE37s are my favorite wheel of all time. I don't think they are too small either, but I run 15x7s, with 225/45-15s.

Okay enough with the troll face and the fat man. If you two want to keep going at each other, do it somewhere else. :notamused:

He blatantly says it's his first road bike. I am startign to think you guys don't know what Trolling in threads is. ANybody that posts stuff you just don't like get's a Trolling? That is beyond ridiculous, even for you UCIMBZ. It is possible that not everyone has a multiple 5k dollar bikes to post here. It is possible that the owner thinks its hot and was hoping to to have the seconded by someone on the internet. That is what this whole thread is about. I call troll on you calling troll, because clearly, there was nothing to do with the thread at all in your post. Just start a thread called UCIMBZ's bikes because anybody who posts in here other than you is obviously a troll. Or should we go back to your first 50 posts where you OFFER NO input on the topic at hand and simply call out others on the forums for (not having as much loot as you)?

Should we call an ambulance?

Why? Particularly if it's not a hard-core LBS, it's not unusual for an entry-level bike to be built up with the full stack of spacers and the stem up. It's also not unusual for someone to have platforms on their first roadie, for a little while. Other than those two issues and the reflectors (mandated, and the bike is obviously still in the shop), what else is so egregious as to call "troll"?

More like the Burn Unit. ;) Lol. It's just calling troll on a thread without any reason is trolling in itself. If you are going to use the word on every bike you dislike, learn what it means at least. You really bring down the class that your bikes bring to the thread.

Nothing. He thinks if it is not staged exactly as his, it what he deems a "troll". I am pretty sure he doesn't understand when or why something is a troll. There isn't enough space in his dedicated mindset to allow that kind of range of thought. Luckily, for his personality, his bikes are so damn nice looking, otherwise he wouldn't even be worth the response in education. Money can't buy class, that's for sure.

Theres a certain aesthetic in this thread. A proper way to stage a bike. He clearly broke every single one of the rules. Maybe it wasn't on purpose, but a few other people have done it to troll. Even a first bike on platform pedals can be staged and photographed properly, it's not like only $5000 bikes can be leaned against garage doors.

This is not the America I remember. We used to scrutinize mediocrity. Now we embrace and nourish it. It may not be trolling but it sure is a slap in the face. Better than that “trash can picture” though.

Or you could answer a reasonable question - what's so egregious?

If he were breaking every "rule," yeah, I'd agree with you, but that doesn't seem to be the intent.

It's also a thread with close to 7000 posts - we know the "rules," but where would someone new find them? Not in the original post, that's for sure.

It's implicit. Kinda like a secret handshake.

Well this would have been an acceptable response. If there are acceptable to post entries into the thread, there are also acceptable ways to reply. Just saying Troll, is not acceptable. Especially when the only thing that says troll about that picture is your response with absolutely no reason why. The America you are referring to wouldn't just slap somebody in the face, they would say Why. That is all. I don't think anyone has a problem with you disliking the entries and saying NOT + reasons. (Though you have taken some heat just for that as well, lol) But to just blatantly misuse the purpose of calling somebody a troll is the exact reason people like you think troll means whatever they want it to. If you are going to be a stickler for rules, stick to them. Trying to explain why somebody's bike doesn't deserve to be in a thread about bikes, but there is plenty of room for misuse of forum specific terms to get that point across does not even come close to logical computation.

The Raleigh = Not Hot
Cannondle and Willier = Just Hot.

Bike next to trash can always = Not Hot

So is the understanding of the word troll. You don't need to scream it out every-time you think there is one, especially if you don't know what it means. Implicit is implied, which means you shouldn't have to bring mention it everytime somebody gets it wrong. Just exclaim, "Not' and reasons. Move along.

Don't get me wrong Yani, I love your website and your Hobby Acquisition Disorder ;) But UCI can fight his own battles and if he can't, here is probably a reason for that. He does just fine though on his own. But for as often as he corrects people in here, he is a target for correction when he is in need.

Yet long-time members such as Whooshie, and his bikes are fuggin' hot, don't have the aesthetic down pat. People with some time behind the camera get it, but not everyone has that eye. I think that the Raleigh above is a case of new rider (and new bike) + no eye = "not," but not such an emphatic "not" as to declare him a troll. (Although, FWIW, I like the potential of the bike - with 30 minutes of work, it could be a looker.)

K. Olsen 02-22-12 08:48 AM

just rate the damn bikes and stop the *****ing
