Thanks for clearing that up, bianchi.

I wanted to see how my bike would look with a black saddle and black bar tape. Not sure if I should be posting it here because it's not particularly "hot" :)

The redline bmx is hot.

I like it. Cut the steerer tube. The dark door with the white bike works.

Cheers mate. I don't like the stack of spacers on top of the stem either, but not sure how long I'll be using this bike. Might sell it off a bit down the road or give it to my old man, and he could use the longer steerer tube.

The seat height looks questionably low.
Cheers

Yeah I think the frame is larger-than-ideal for me. I feel a bit stretched out on it and the aesthetics of it bug me! But I can get by.

This was my first road bike purchase ever last year and it's what the salesman thought I should get when he sized me up. I didn't know any better. Will definitely try a size down next time.

Since you asked....Whatever kind of look you were aiming for, you missed....

It's not just the pedals, remove the warning stickers, the reflector on the wheel and seatpost (and bars?), and stage the bike properly before posting a pic. :)
I actually like the all black look though.

I like it. Saddle is pretty low but the bike is nice. You actually staged it even though you weren't particularly looking for votes. I personally think the white saddle and tape look good with this. The black tape and saddle might throw off the "flow."

Haha, yeah. They were obviously removed before I took it on the road.

I got 50% off because he couldnt sell them, a bargain imo. Nice little touch to a close to all black bike. Fits with bright helmet and glasses.

Cheers again mate! You did a great job. Those of you who are curious, here's what my bike would look like with a black saddle and black bar tape (still not "hot" by this thread's standards lol), courtesy of bianchi10:

I actually took this picture previously, not to ask for the photoshop haha. When I first saw bianchi's photoshop on it, I had the same sentiments as you in terms of throwing off the "flow", but it's kind of growing on me the more I look at it.

Should I go with black saddle/tape, white saddle/tape, or white saddle/pink tape?

Congrats on the purchase. I know the previous owner. This bike got very light use. I would agree with Bianchi on the matchy-matchy black-on-black or white-on-white. Silver carbon bar tape would look good too (with black saddle).

I ran black/black on the old Fuji and white/white on my current FG, so I'm exploring different options. Right now it's black/pink:

I guess you either love or you hate it haha. (Also moved up the stem since I took that picture)

gc3 07-24-13 09:23 PM

not loving the pink tape, but A for effort in trying something different...

coasting 07-24-13 09:35 PM

Tape is funny.

SpeshulEd 07-25-13 08:06 AM

I like the pink tape...to me, bartape is the one thing to have some fun with, gotta switch it up to something different on occasion.

Seat looks too far forward. For this thread, remove the bottles, set chain, wheels, and remove rear reflector. By all means, get a better photo and try again!
Cheers

ACK! Another seat too far forward. Where the heck are you guys getting fit at? Pink bar tape = NOT!

How do you know its too far forward without seeing the rider on the bike...or the rider?

Its slammed on the seatpost. If you actually need the seat there, then use a zero setback seatpost. Aesthetically it is definitely a NOT.
