Finally an entire page of hot bikes. All well done. On the Seven not a fan of the saddle but holy crap some real stunners posted these last two days!

Last week I finally gave up on finding a 54cm TCR SLR. I know it's a stiff frame, does it liquify your insides?

For me, in-lines would have been nice in that the few extra inches of height made a noticeable difference in traffic - just a little easier to see over the tops of cars and anticipate, particularly when filtering through slower traffic in Manhattan. If it wasn't a bike that I'd be in traffic with frequently, I wouldn't bother with 'em.

Auckland traffic is far from the worst in the world. But, even here, I would value inline levers if I was commuting on a regular basis. Fingers wrapped around the outside of the hoods or the drops makes them the first point of contact. I would much prefer having something between my hand and the car. I was out riding with a friend last weekend who runs bar ends on his MTB commuter rig for no other purpose than as urban Bash Guards.

It looks tall 61cm or 63cm? If it were shorter it would be warmer. Any chance of a surgical shortening in your future?

I knew about the tires, just wanted to see which way I liked better. It's a 63.

And you dared post a photo in HorN before coming to your conclussion, remounting the offender and rephotographing? sigh

And it shows. But, it does present well for such a tall frame. You've done an excellent job of disguising the giant.

I've got thick skin I can take it. Thank you, being tall isn't always awesome.

99.9% of the time it is.

Only if you're trying to hide in a crowd does it have drawbacks.

I would kill for that bike! Scorching! :)

cycledogg 01-14-14 08:25 PM

Seatpost looks a little on the short side. It might shift a bit smoother with a little more cable on the RD end. I would also suggest the rear brake cable goes behind the front cable at the bars. Otherwise, nice retro build.
Cheers

The Look is hot.

How dare you?! ;) Well, the seat post may look short by modern standards, but this is from the days when a fist full of post was the norm. Plus, it's what my short-legged, long-torso'd body requires. The cable is a NOS Campagnolo rear derailleur cable, pre-cut at the factory to the optimal length. Campagnolo's first ever slant parallelogram paired Simplex retroflection levers = shifting perfection. If I were to route the rear brake cable behind the front it would get bunched up when I turn left. Notwithstanding the fact the cable started to creep forward around the seat cluster in the photos, both cables take a pretty natural curve, IMHO.

Btw, this was my race bike as a teenager.
