Not unless you come up to my neck of the woods! Actually even where I am it's not super necessary, but I have a lot of rides where I climb for miles on end and spend much of my time on the tops. I have a ride coming up with a sixteen mile sustained climb that I thought this would be a fun add on. Obviously not hard to move to the hoods, but I figured when in Rome...

R1Lee, here's a tip if you don't have it already, get the sw-600 remote shifter for the bar tops. Reasonably priced and well worth it. I figure if you're going to invest in electronic shifting you should take advantage of all the extra benefits :) I just installed mine yesterday and for sustained and steep climbs it's been fantastic.

I have the sw600 switch, unfortunately because I have flat aero bars, it makes it difficult to mount. The curvature of the sw600 is meant to go on round bar, unless I file it down which I don't want to do.

the domane cost more then what I wanted to spend at the time, especially with the other upgrades (zipp fc 202, pro evo stealth, xxxl saddle) Plus, going with a stock color would probably be easier to resell. Overall I'm very happy with the color of the bike, it's gorgeous in person. The red is a fire pearl red and it just pops.

seeing it in person, it looks much better then my propel and my old tcr which was also stealth black.

As i was browsing the collection of beautifully groomed steeds, I started to think "I wonder if that dude with the $10,000 dollar bike actually looks like a dude who would own a $10,000 bike..."
New thread of you and your bike? I guess we couldn't call it hot or not since i don't swing that way...

if you had set it up correctly.... still, bartape near hood, worn out saddle wrapped in electrical tape? Also, personally, I hate that c'dale built that up with a black fork. That's about the most of my suggestions.

For those that like red, this might be nice, but to me it looks like a circus clown bike with the garish paint job. At least it matches!

Having said that, it appears set up nice and assertive.

bianchi10 09-17-13 09:27 PM

Not for me.

PatrickGSR94 09-17-13 09:34 PM

Not for me, too. I like a little red here and there but that's just toooo much.

I don't care for the red/white Trek Madone color scheme, either. Or the blue/white ones.

 I'm going to look for a big clown nose to put on it now!!! ;) Look for more black in the future after this years Veloswap folks! When I bought the bike, it was basically a choice of too much white...or a whole lot of red. Obviously you see which direction I went. The tires were not really even intentional...they were just on sale at a ridiculous price and I needed some new ones pronto. Do you think I can get a pair of Bont's in a size 72?? ;)

Bathwater 09-17-13 10:20 PM

Too much red IMO and the black stem looks a bit out of place.

I think that this frame would look much better without the awkward stripes on the TT and the seat stays - as it is, they just interfere with the lines of the frame. I also think that a black saddle and post would look better. Not bad, though.

kcollier5 09-18-13 08:40 AM

^ Well, frankly for me, I'd rather see red, blue, orange or green over an all black, Batman, 'murdered' out frame. That McDonald's Look was a little TOO much but overall, we're ON BIKES! We're having FUN! (Right, please tell me we are, really that pain is just my imagination, right?) So, yeah, it's a little red, but hey, at least it's still alive.

And I agree with you that a lot of red is better than a lot of white. You could tone it down just a bit with a black seatpost, saddle and black bartape. You've clearly embraced the red, but use some constraint and I think it could be a good looking bike.

kcollier5 09-18-13 08:41 AM

Oh, and can we start debadging frames instead of wheels?! (Custom paint, here we come!)

"Murdering out" and "debadging" go hand in hand, tho!

kcollier5 09-18-13 01:56 PM

Haha, that's true, but murdering HAS to be black. Debadging doesn't. I'm ok with one or two names but 15?! Ok, we get it!

bmcphx 09-18-13 03:31 PM

Mine has 8 logos and it definitely does not look busy or overdone.

6Speed 09-19-13 09:08 AM

Suggestions? I want to change the bar tape and saddle first, but I know there is more that needs changing. New wheels? New group? Stem? Bars? What ya got?

Do you want new stuff for aesthetic reasons which will make young happier with your bike or are you wanting new stuff to help performance wise. This thread is specifically for how a bike looks. I would be more than happy to spend your money, but it would help to know what you are wanting out of the upgrades.

IthaDan 09-19-13 09:23 AM

Can't tell, wrong side.

Well, I'm mainly asking about visual upgrades but it weighs right at 20lbs, so if I could put it on a diet at the same time that would be great, too.
