Not a fan of the bottle cages but it doesn't matter, I can't take my eyes off the paint job. Nice work!

Now you've made me look for defects on purpose! I really counldn't find any :). Nailed it down to the Osymetric rings. Although (preference) I see the handlebar as being very shallow. It's super hot nonetheless. The BMC material has been titillating lately.

plpete 02-21-14 03:39 PM

Thanks! Actually the rings are Rotor but still oval. Good eye :thumb: The bar is 3T Ergosum and it's the most comfortable bend for me. I have a beautifull PRO integrated stem/bar combo but don't use it because I don't like the bend...go figure :)

Actually, the valve stems are not at 6 o'clock...fail! lol.

plpete 02-21-14 04:29 PM

HA! I was waiting for someone to notice! I figured the wheel decals would give it away. oh well ..... back to the drawing board ;)

SpeshulEd 02-21-14 05:20 PM

Just toss the bike in the river and start over. lol.

Very hot (any friend of the Rail is a friend of mine)

Which saddle is that?

plpete 02-21-14 06:22 PM

Thanks robbyville and gc3. The saddle is a Specialized Romin Evo. A bit porky but comfortable. Someday I may replace it with the carbon rail version.

Did you paint this yourself? Thumbs up regardless of who painted it! :thumb:

Yes I did the paint myself. Thanks!

Hows the DeRosa doing/looking? ;)

It's been the go-to bike for the last couple of months now. Only changes this year for both bikes will be the new OT cranksets I bought from Ribble over the holidays.

You got it. Took the photo at the Georgetown waterfront during a post-build test ride.

[QUOTE=save10;16505968]Thanks peeps for the feed back on my Allez from a few days back

some final notes

1) the background is the concrete block house of a roadway that makes a flyover by where i live. makes for a nice background
2) shot with my trusty old Nikon D40X with a Nikon 50mm AF-s 1.8. I can't say enough about this lens. Its cheap ($200), fast, light and robust. often times i don't need a tripod in low light because of to 1.8. I've gotten rid of all my other Nikon lenses and i just use this now. if you shoot nikon you need this lens

Great background. Some bikes "deserve" better then a garage door and yours certainly fits the bill. I'm a "prime lens" shooter myself. My 85 1.8 or 1.2 are what I use most for bike shots. Great bokeh if wanted/needed and the razor sharpness/clarity of a prime lens can't be beat. I'm a Canon guy but props to your Nikon shots! I'd love to see that shot at 5.6/6.3 with a bit of an angle from the front with focus point at mid-downtube with that background. That would be a strong look for that bike. Nice job...again.

My saddle tilt? My saddle is actually completely level, same for my handlebars.

EDIT:http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=365484

I imagine it was the camera I am using--not the most impressive one. Blurr and angle. EDIT EDIT: Dead on you see what I mean.

I like this bike. It looks like such a nice bike, but the bottle cages are just awful. If you put some inexpensive plastic or even carbon cages on there that looked good (and hold a bottle well) the bike would look a ton better! As it is, it's warm...

:twitchy: You put a Specialized saddle on a BMC bike?? Lynching coming up!!

plpete 02-24-14 11:42 AM

And what is wrong with that? It fits me great and is the most comfortable saddle I've used so far. Sorry but Fizik saddles don't work for me.
