Diamondback Podium 7
Alright, guys, let'er rip. It's a 2012 diamondback podium 7 frame with DA9000. Just finished putting her together, and went for my first ride yesterday - I'm really happy with how she rides, but curious to know if a Diamondback roadbike can ever be considered hot :)

Not bad for the trek (and I ride one) what crankset is that, and are you running the 32t cassette with DI2? I'm considering the conversion (run to 28t right now). Which frame set is it very nice!

Nice - I didn't realize diamondback made road bikes back then, always thought they just made BMX and mountain bikes. From the paint job, I'm guessing that was produced back when Miami Vice was on prime time :)

The Diamondback is a nice looking bike, but not hot.
|
well, the DA9000 is.

Crank is a Rotor 3D with Power2Max Type S power meter, mounted with 6800 chainrings. It's got a medium cage RD and I have the 11-32 cassette on the RXL wheelset, primarily for the long climbing gran fondo's.
Yup |

Thanks for the reply, it's a beaut. If I can ask one other question... Do you find the jump between cogs to be a bit much in the easier gears? I have a set of RL's that I run tubeless for training and Fondo's with big gravel climbs that I'm thinking of putting an 11-32 on, but will also have to retrofit the cage from a GS on to my 9070 derailleur.
I actually haven't ridden with the 11-32 cassette yet, as my 11-28 is what I typically run. I have a ride with some climbing this weekend so I'll get to play with it then. Looking at the setup though, I expect the jumps to be slightly wider than preferred, but I figure it's worth it for a bailout gear. |
The Kelly guys around here ride Diamondbacks. I think they are hot.

Yeah, I love how the color worked out. It was worth the wait :)

It can be when it's set up nicely and with a stellar group. Not a fan of ergo bars but obviously a preference to each their own. I'll give it a hot

Hoods look correct to me. Shimano recommends the hoods be level. If he moved it up, then it wouldn't level and if moved it down, again wouldn't be level. If he wants to move it up, he probably should consider switching out the ergo for compact then.
But the handlebar wrap, I'd change to white to match the EASTON white lettering or just go stealth, all black. But it's still a sexy bike. It's got the look for a Tarmac without the toptube going down so ridiculously low. But it's not so curved to be too feminine wussy like a Bianchi or Wilier. It's a nice blend. also the angle of the straight fork, sexy. Looks more aggressive than my bike's front end. I like the look of beefy forks compared to the super thin ones that some of the big names are going for to supposedly provide more flex at the tips, aka Giant/Cannondale.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...psc2b3ce47.jpg I like that you chose to disrupt the whole stealth look with the cable housing. Very aggressive, mean looking bike. That's what a man's bike should look like. Not something you should change or could do anything about since the Rival crank is nice. Would have been nicer if the chainrings were more silver to match your rear derailleur. I like silver components :P |
Maybe my computer screen changes the angle because those hoods do not look remotely close to level.

Sure it can be. I personally don't love it or hate it. Something about your set up that has nothing to do with my opinion (more of an observation) is that your hoods look pretty low as of you wanted your drops moved but didn't adjust the hoods after doing so. If that is the position you like it in, than that's a different story. aesthetically speaking, I would prefer to see the hoods further up on the bars and different tape.
Hot bike. |

did from phone so not exactly a straight line, but that's how I see the hoods, which is not level. |
