there you have it. 4 people in a row. 2 for red, and 2 for black. That should make it easy on you ;)

I think the red makes your Brake calipers/pads look A LOT nicer.

Ya jeez not helping lol.But thanks guys for the opinions.I guess I am just gonna have to do a black tire pick then a red.

X-LinkedRider 02-15-12 10:08 PM

Yeah. Just get 2 sets. Take a pic with each set on and always post both pictures together. Choose your. ;)

what makes it hard is that the frame is different in front and back. the front is all black, so the black tire looks good. gives a good "stealth" look. but the back half has all those red highlights, which makes the red tire look good. but having the tires mismatched doesn't look good...it actually looks like two halves of two separate bikes stuck together. i just think the front needs a little red to make it go with the back.

but that's just my opinion...and it's also a significant overanalysis for choosing bike tires.

Haha very funny. Why do they make so many dam options :(

X-LinkedRider 02-16-12 12:55 AM

Your options are red or black at this point. I'd say that is a flip of the coin. Or use red on group rides or just races or whatever.

Jazzy Hands 02-16-12 01:08 AM

I say go with red in the front and black in the back :D Maybe it'll balance out.
I have that on my beater bike (but not for an aesthetic reason - my wheels are mismatched too)

I lack them more often than not. I'm not a judge, was just explaining the delay in understanding.

For resubmission...

Mah baby had to undergo surgery to free her of rust, so I opted for a clear powdercoat.

Obviously, a few things wrong. No bar tape, and my saddle is tilted down a bit, but that's just because I didn't tighten the bolts enough.

Not necessarily looking for a "hot or not" but would love your guys' thoughts.

@DRietz -

I dig it. Love the clean lines! The beauty is in its simplicity. (And, honestly, I'm getting tired of the whole black/red/white fad.)

You mentioned rust, so that must be steel?

Muffin Man 02-16-12 07:32 PM

Except for the chainstay being taped, I like it. All the roads I have been on are usually nice enough that I never get chainslap

Cheers! It is steel. Mass production Soma Smoothie that I've paid essentially nothing for, and the powder coat was rather cheap as well.

It's a tube, but I understand the aesthetic standpoint nonetheless. I generally don't get chain slap, but I have been known to take it on local singletrack.

Wheels are Velocity A23's, by the way. The 23mm rim kool aid is no joke.

Close enough

rat fink 02-16-12 08:01 PM

That looks great Dan. I'm not exactly sure I like it better than when the frame was white, as the cleared frame seems to draw more attention to the few things I don't like about, but I still find it to be hot.

Yeah, I tend to agree. I should have removed the rack mounts when I had a chance, and the welds on a mass produced frame are never things of beauty. But, it will serve me well for the next year or so until I start searching for something in a larger size.

weaver 02-16-12 08:11 PM

I liked the contrast of the white frame much better before as well. But don't get me wrong, I still love your bike :thumb:

DRietz 02-16-12 08:14 PM

I know! It almost looks ti, and having to replace my black wheels/pink headset didn't help at all. But I did have Velocity lace my wheels with some sick red nips. Subtle. Something you wouldn't expect me to win a road race on.

rjones28 02-17-12 02:42 PM

I like the look of that Soma.
