Did he upset you by saying your bike was not hot? You seem to take things very seriously/personally. :P

I didn't say anything that was rude. The frame isn't something I find appealing. Nice bike with great pieces though.

You want this FORUM to be A pleasant place for people to visit and post!? Sounds like you need to take a better look around. I understand wanting to cut down on the hostility within this thread, but if you're looking to create a harmonious and friendly environment for people to come and go without feeling afraid to speak up, you have a lot of PMs to send out to a lot of people, not just me. I'm not upset that anyone is trying to get things "back on track", don't put words in my mouth. As redlude97 said, he wasn't offended and took it as the joke it was meant to be, as did a couple others.

I don't get the hypocrisy from the moderation around here. Just when moderation speaks up and says they will not allow any kind of bullying, i seem to get my head kicked in for pages and pages, while billyD sits back with arms crossed and smiling. Then expect me to just lay down and take it since I somehow deserved it because I am outspoken in one particular thread with my personal opinion!? Ok, good to know. Didn't see you make a post towards anyone else who have been making light if this new "everyone wins" attitude. You happen to miss the unicorn farting a rainbow a few pages back??

Sounds to me like you need to take it to a p.m. with an administrator.

The stupid badge was unnecessary.

i think lugged carbon is the way forwad for hottie hotness.

zymphad 05-12-14 11:22 AM

This is offtopic, but it's something I've observed about the two road bike forums I read. I haven't noticed this as much in other forums like the race/commuter forums.

I find road bike forums have constant negativivity and insults thrown at other members. Just seem to be the nature of road cyclists. Lot of name calling, judgment of their intelligence etc. It's one thing to post a negative opinion about an object, but another to post a negative opinion about a member. That's what the ignore function on the forum is for or you can have self control and not read their posts rather than spewing your opinion about that member.

I'd rather just have a steel lugged bike then.

FWIW, I'd have to agree with the sentiment that moderator response was disproportionate and, on a couple of occasions, resulted in stirring up much more strife than what was present.

Dood - aren't you the same guy who accuses others for only liking obscure brands, while at the same time touting an obscure brand as your next/dream bike? Isn't this the pot calling the kettle black?

He's also the one who derides people for being fat.

I live in Dallas and Austin has the most severe climbing I see aside from vacation to New Mexico, so I decided it was time to man up and get the 53/39. I'm still slow and weak though.

Hot with or without whatever color wheel decals. I personally wouldn't bother getting white ones and probably be too lazy to remove the red ones.

I think a bit of explanation is in order. This thread started out as a fun place to post photos of your bike. If you read the first pages of the thread, the comments are positive or constructive; nothing mean or snarky.

Then over time the unwritten Rules began to show up and the self-appointed Rule Enforcers started chiming in to make sure that your bike photo followed the Rules or else! We started getting more and more complaints and much drama ensued.

Since Ravenmore didn't post any Rules when he started the thread and he didn't nominate anyone to be Rule Enforcers, we decided to bring the thread back to its original intention of giving people a place to post photos of their bikes without getting ripped apart because they happened to have a water bottle in the cage. BillyD was given the fun job of trying to bring the thread back on track. He's been trying but we're still getting a bit of resistance and some of the Rule Enforcers are having trouble letting go.

It's time to let the thread move forward and put an end to the drama. No one is forcing anyone to post in the thread, but if you do, you need to follow the original intent of the thread and play nice. Trollheim is available if you want to start a "Post photos of your bike my way or I'll rip it apart" thread.

So this thread is a second "What road bike do you have?" thread?
Except this one isn't stickied?

Am I getting that right?

Just make a second one of those and let this be.

I think the mods want this thread to be pictures of bikes, followed by the word "hot" or the word "not" with zero explanation.

Nagrom_ 05-12-14 02:45 PM

Because we wouldn't want to discuss anything on this forum, now would we?

RJM 05-12-14 03:02 PM

CbadRider (and BillyD) are speaking English, it's weird people can't get what they are saying. What they are requesting isn't all that hard to follow.

If you don't like the way someone's bike looks, you can say so, but saying a bike is ugly because it has a water bottle or a saddle bag is lame. Stop being lame.

i agree with you, is about HOT or NOT HOT bike, not about you have a water bottle or a saddle bag.

They are, but they're also trying to change what could arguably be the defining thread of the 41 simply because some folks got upset by the manner in which their bikes were critiqued. Almost as if they forgot that the internet is a snarky sarcastic cesspool.

RJM 05-12-14 03:14 PM

Oh, the horror if this is the defining thread of the 41. I think it is the "we're going to yell at you" thread.
