Hot r Not

2013 Tarmac Pro Dura Ace with Stan's Alpha 340 wheels. The color's not for everyone... But I think it looks awesome in person. And, of course, it's a blast to ride!

Every time I see this bike, I kick myself for selling my S3.
Great build and most definitely HOT.

Sold the frameset a couple months ago. Last I checked, its being ridden throughout the mountains of Spain. I had planned on replacing it with a Storck but when CC failed to notify me of the delay, that was enough for me. For now, the Ridley is my only bike now but contemplating on a '15 S3 or going custom with a Baum or No.22 frameset.

Okay, I generally like Madones and I do really like the paint scheme you picked for this project one. The area that bothers me with your bike is the front handlebar area. There is just way too much black up there...needs more color.

And this is for anybody reading who happens to be working for Trek's design department. What's with your skinny fork going into a massive headtube? It looks wonky....change it.

Edited: wish you would have taken another picture of it slammed and posted that. I'll hold my vote until I see an updated photo.

So why did you post this picture then if you slammed the stem just after? Doesn't take much effort to take a new picture and post it in a hotter position.

Certainly less effort than writing a post like that.

Color is not permitted in the cockpit. Black black black. The problem I have with the madone is the black paint on the frame, but I really like the orange.

RJM 08-26-14 02:37 PM

Disagree. Too much black up there makes it look like a black blob...totally unappealing. Colored bar tape does wonders to a bike's look.

Bar tape should be black.

RJM 08-26-14 02:41 PM

Nonsense.

Yes meaning only if you have someone to clean and re tape should you try to rock white.

Black only. When I see colored tape I think either its a woman's bike, someone new to cycling, or some weird Fred who thinks every inch of the bike needs to be color coordinated.

zatopek 08-26-14 03:54 PM

Azdane,
I'm not usually a fan of aero frames but your Cervelo does it for me. HOT!

Agreed. However, there are some subtle options for color <see Cinelli Caleido bartape> that can work well without looking bad or cheap. As to white bar tape, despite what all the white bartape evangelists will tell you about ease of cleaning, 90%+ of the white bar tape I see on group rides is dirty. So, unless you are pro and get new bartape every day for every stage, it just doesn't work, imo.

Yes, if you plan on hanging your bike on the wall and not riding it there are other color options available to you.

WhyFi 09-03-14 09:44 AM

My bars need to be re-wrapped soon. I think that I'm going to go with blue just to piss off bfers.

RPK, maybe you don't know what I was referring to?? Do a search for "Cinelli Caleido Eva black bar tape" (images) and you'll see that you can have color in your bar tape (very subtle though) without it looking dingy or dirty… or needing to hang it on the wall. ;)
