Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not that Lance should not conserve water, but we need priorities in this world. We're buying a laptop computer for every Iraqi schoolchild, but we can't fix our own infrastructure problems here at home.

have fun in your suv's boys, but the joke's on you.
global warming is just another way to fatten the pockets of eco-liberals who stifle growth in the process. (see: Al Gore)
"The Sahara was one of the first regions of Africa to be farmed. Some 5000 years ago, the area was not so arid and the vegetation might have been closer to a savanna. Previous fauna may be recognised in stone carvings. However, desertification set in around 3000 BCE, and the area became much like it is today."
did the pharaohs drive around the sahara in their SUVs and get electricity from their coal fired power-plants?

It isn't a matter of money. Who the hell needs that much water? For a garden? Come on. I've been here for three months, and we haven't seen more than 60 minutes' worth of rain the last couple months. Just because he paid for it doesn't make it justifiable.

I'm guessing you don't have built-in sprinklers, fountain and pool either. His pool is probably a bit bigger than your bath tub.

So, because he has these things, he's justified in using 330,000 gallons of water during a drought, when he hasn't even been living here? Please feel free in explaining the logic behind this.

I'm sure he didn't realize how much water was being used. I highly doubt he pays his bills personally let alone analyzes them.

Are you joking? Do you live in a science free zone or something? Have you heard of this thing called the North Pole, which soon will no longer exist as ice?

why don't we just let the all powerful government decide what is too much, not enough, and just right for all of us? wouldn't that solve everything?

see your reasoning is just a little bit off. im sure in your science filled zone you know that the poles have changed, climates have altered, and animals have died off. the earth changes! i have no doubt that the poles will melt but when and more importantly why? i want scientific proof that it is down to us and not the earth changing. how soon we forget the ice age and the global cooling between 1940-1970.

Yet, amazingly, the globe is still warming. Hence "Global Warming" is not crap after all. Oh, and it's true, I was not around during the ice age.

If you want to live somewhere without rules, there are plenty of uninhabited islands in the South Pacific. Otherwise, if you choose to live in civilization, you must follow the rules it has established.

slimvela - where are ya at these days?

Hmmm - didn't realize Tx has an oil pipeline. I thought it was all local production and the off shore stuff in the Gulf. Droughts aren't any big deal - frankly more often than not we go through a dry season this time of year. Usually June through early Sept.

I went out to some pretty remote areas on my ride today. You know, all this bermuda/ St. Augustine non-native stuff is dying by the yard full but the native plants are looking awesome. It made some nice scenery to ride through. Almost wished I had my camera. I think I'm going to go dig some of this stuff up and put it in my yard so I'll have something un-brown.

Have you heard that we never actually put a man on the moon? It was filmed in Arizona. Also, a couple guys in Georgia found Bigfoot.

He's entitled to use whatever he can pay for. Whether he should want to is another story.

No. It is a utility, the utility company can say you use too much and cut you off for the good of their service. American's look at water as a right, it is not, it is a commodity that is bought and sold and under the control of someone. Public utilities have the right to put terms on usage of whatever they are selling, if they want to say your max water use is X gallons then you have to follow that. And clearly Austin has decided to shame people into water reduction.

You mean like the republicans have been doing with the constitution for the past 8 years?
