Wow; this thread is 13 pages of nonsense.

On another board I used to frequent, anytime a thread was started like this the thread starter was usually looking to become a mod.

The thread in question was totally harmless, and I think the thread starter was fishing for insults.

I hope one day to become a real man. ;)

I would think this a rather basic thing.

I'm sorry, but if some I've never met before walked up to me with a hideous haircut (that could easily be fixed) and said "please judge me. I'm thinking of cutting my hair off, what do you think of that idea?", I would say that their haircut was horrible and cutting it off is a stupid idea. Maybe they should just get a better haircut before cutting it all off.

This thing a lot of you are forgetting is that this person said PLEASE JUDGE ME. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MY IDEA?

What kind of responses would you honestly expect to get in a situation like that?

My wife once asked me how I liked her new hair cut and I made the big mistake of telling her how bad it looked.

Yes, well telling that to your wife and telling that to a random stranger off the street are different. Everybody would be more likely to be honest to a stranger, and they know it. However, if my wife said that she was thinking of shaving her head and her haircut was hideous, I would most certainly tell her that she should fix her hair rather than shave it all off.

I wonder if any of the daily dramas of BF ever cross the desk of someone at IB. And then I wonder if they care half as much as the people on the forum.

It may be helpful to include that in the "reasons for edit" so that the rest of us don't think the mods go around editing things unreasonably.

Vulgarity
As a community with a diverse variety of members and readers, we ask that our members to post without using vulgarity. Vulgarity not only includes vulgar language and pictures but also sexist, racist, anti-religious, images of graphic violence, political statements and homophobic language which may offend other members. In addition, the "masking" of vulgarity by inserting * or another keystroke in place of one or more letters in a vulgar term is unacceptable in most cases. This applies to all content submitted by users including posts, PMs, avatars and signatures.

And maybe you can. I'll never know. I can't even touch my friggin toes. I can't even origami my right leg enough to ride a sport bike. Hey Andrew, let's do that Catskills m/c ride in the Spring. That really does sound cool.

Yoga will fix that toe touching problem for you.

Does that mean the ubiquitous HTFU is out?

Why would it be out? There's nothing wrong with four random letters placed next to each other.

Gotta love how you guys are dissecting this 1000 ways to try and evade what the OP's original point of exposing a pattern on this board. There is a difference between constructive criticism and being a D!CK a lot of you guys are D!CKs.

I am not personally offended by anything tossed about here, but like I said, I see a pattern of attitudes amongst Roadies in general. It is silly bull#@# to be honest, but so many are arrogant D-Bags. I think the genesis of these pervasive traits eminates from the obsessive, competitive nature of those attracted to this sport.

Often "well to do", educated, gear hounds (not unlike the skiing D-Bags) that are as much in love with their gear as they are the sport. So that is why you get such consistency when talking about Newbies and "Freds" blah blah blah. The "I don't wave to nobody" is another example of the A'holeness of so many Roadies.

I am from NYC, and busting on others is a skill and a hobby. But to do that with humility is one thing but with overt arrogance, it rubs me the wrong way and many of you guys would get the Sh@# smacked out of you for talking so much junk.

Lazyrider 12-02-08 12:50 PM

Arrogant because I call you guys out but I never bust on Newbies or "Freds" like so many of you guys do. I know you think you are "the man" around here and often need to "correct" newbies like some hierarchy in a dog pack but that crap doesn't deter me. You aren't so bad because you do it in jest. Besides how could anyone be THAT self absorbed like you appear to be. But we all know it stems from insecurity and a small weenie.

This is BF, the correct term is compact crank.

You on the other hand do match the term 'small weenie'.

patentcad 12-02-08 12:54 PM

By the way, I never said I was 'the man' around here.

I blame my fan base.

That's OK bd, I do it all the time. All the arrogant aholes here do it.

patentcad 12-02-08 12:57 PM

By the way, I really don't bust newbies too much here at all. I often chime in with advice when I can. The biggest bust I've posted on a newbie in months is 'Go with the bullhorns'. I don't think that's too harsh.

I bust idiots like lazyboy. That's much more fun. They get very, very, very mad.

Lazyrider 12-02-08 01:02 PM

Delusions of grandeur Pcad. You must be loosing it up there in the "Boonies". :thumb:
