Dude, I grew up on skis like that. Those ROCK.

I got shaped skis for the first time 4 years ago after a long layoff from the sport. The first time on those bad boys (Volkls) it was like where the F has this gear been all my friggin life. My current ski gear is amazing compared to anything I've ever experienced, and I've been skiing for over 40 years. Now I only get to go 8x a year to the local mtn, maybe once up to Hunter. Used to go out West every winter (Aspen, Utah, Jackson, etc.). Love powder. Don't get powder here.

On the other hand I am the hottest skiier at Mt. Peter in Warwick, NY. Unfortunately it only takes me about 33 seconds to blast down the 400 vertical feet there. Oh well. We do hold coveted Seasons Passes at Mt. P (we get them for $139 in the Spring). I can hear their Avalanche Cannons from my back deck, it's just across the valley.

I've noticed a pattern in this thread...whenever someone asks a poster to reply and point out what was soooooo bad that caused them to post telling us we're all great big meanies, they don't reply with any significant information addressing the question.

We seem to have a bunch of people posting about how offensive something was, but no one can point to an example in the original thread that was so offensive. They're just using this thread as an excuse to vent some pent up anger about something that has been bugging them rather than actually point out what was so offensive in the original thread.

You can't beat those small ski areas pcad. My local "mountain" is 600' but only 7 miles down the road so I get, maybe, 35 days in. One of my favorite small areas was Tupper Mt. - not sure if they have reopened though. I think I skied Hunter once - not sure - I was drunk. It was a trip when my ship was drydocked in the Brooklyn Navy Yard in 78.

That's not so bad- at least they don't have cable bindings like my first pair. :eek:

The next pair were 207cm long. I'm 5'10". I've heard they don't recommend them quite that long any more... :lol:


Forget about the skis, why are you keeping all that used oil? Why not just dump it down the storm drain like the rest of us do? Plus, a fire in that garage would trigger a SWAT call-out, what with all the ammo and "bomb making supplies" you got there... ;)

I think that is the OPs point. That some people are ******* in real life and big men on the internet only. Not really a news flash though. Like so many people have pointed out before, in real life we all wear lycra and shave our legs. So let these guys pick on a new cyclist if it helps them get over it.
