Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Even if it doesn't, it was cheap enough that it doesn't make a big difference. I'm going to buy a rear rack and trunk bag eventually, anyway.
My knees would hit that thing constantly.

LBS ordered it for me, got a sweet deal, gonna get fitted for it when it comes in.
Gonna use it mostly for commuting and grocery getting. I got so tired of riding my road bike and getting in such an aggro position just go to HEB.

Me?

New shoes!!!

Shimano R086 for only HK$500 (about US $60). Shop 'soiled' - had cleats fitted, some scratches on the right sole. Must have only been used inside the store and on carpet. I'm going to put more scratches on them getting from my front door to the road tomorrow morning.

$400 for a rear hub? Does it turn the wheel for you? What's so special about it?

A lack of cycling since Saturday due to a broken wheel (Sent it back for replacement) progressed into a lack of financial awareness and it took only seconds to click the purchase button on a set of Williams 30x wheels. Also, not hearing from the LBS on the status of my returned wheel probably added to my impatience.

This post is helping me justify the purchase:

1. They will last a long time.
2. They can be transferred to a new bike when/if I upgrade in the future.
3. It's good to have a backup wheelset. (My old CXP-22's once fixed)
4. These are much better wheels with good customer service.

What do you do when you need a fix and the wife will kill you if you buy anything else cycling related? You buy the one thing she has been on you about for months.

Finally bought another Klean Kanteen bottle cage. After months of using my bottles with some generic aluminum cage, the rattling started pissing me off.

I am really hoping that this is not the case for me. I hadn't even considered that as a possible problem. Hopefully there will be a spot on my frame that it can rest without getting in the way. If it does pose a problem, I'll just have to order my rear-mounted rack and trunk bag sooner than planned.

I picked up some dark brown Serfas handlebar tape today. I think that it will look pretty good on my white road bike.

If it does prove a problem, you might be able to mount it at the top-tube/seatpost junction instead.

I've got a regular, smaller, on-top-of-the-top-tube bento box-style bag that will hit my right knee when I'm standing and haven't strapped the bag down tight.

Pictured here:
https://www.axiomgear.com/products/ge...lty/power-bag/

My phone fits in the side, and everything else in the main compartment. It's really pretty nice, though -- I don't always have to be wearing clothes with pockets.

Full zip jersey. I am so done with the little zipper. Also a replacement helmet mirror. I ripped mine off with a low hanging tree branch while descending a hill.

New shifters, handlebars and tape. 2010 SRAM Force shifters, FSA K-Wing Compact with Cinelli Silver Carbon Fiber tape.

Wanted to get a matching Ritchey handlebar but couldn't find anything that I liked. Faux pas? Hope not.

This is my most recent cycling related acquisition:

1985 Raleigh USA Team Professional Replica, aka "555"
Raleigh 555RSL tubing (re-branded Reynolds 531)

A couple of nicks in the paint... very few of them. Pretty close to immaculate condition. Came with 1985 Shimano 600EX, But I threw some mishmash of other parts on there. Pretty cool, even if it's not carbon fiber...

Oh god, not that crap. Any cell phone out there can be held in a certain way which will make the signal drop. It is a symptom of having the antenna built into the phone. Furthermore, if you put it in any sort of case, the issue goes away. The iPhone is so much better than any other phone out there right now that I'll deal with not holding the lower left corner.
