Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I just think it's a rude question but it's something that is totally accepted in the American culture. Most other cultures there is no excuse at all for asking someone that. I often wonder what someone got a deal for, so I just ask where they got it and answer my own question. I'm still getting my info but I'm not prying into personal information. I think if someone says they got a good deal and doesn't offer the price, that's to be taken as a sign maybe they didn't plan to share how much they spent on an item.
Your superiority complex is quite amazing. Asking where they got it is SOOOOOOOO much different than asking what they paid for it.

I liked it, was a second bike so I didn't ride it much but it was a good performer. The thing I found awkward is the turn in on the tarmac and Allez is too quick for me.

I'm not sure what your point is. You disagree with me, that's fine and you're as entitled to an opinion as I am, but I can do without the snark.

A book on etiquette, because apparently I'm a rude American according to some fuzzy foreigner in Phoenix.

It's a rude question no matter how you ask.
I don't think it's rude, of course I'm an American. But if another poster is interested in a set of wheels and see those and say gee that's exactly what I want to buy, I wonder if he got those for less than I could find them for? I think I'll ask and find out how much and where and if the price is better that's where I'll go to purchase them.

And this is a forum where people buy bikes and bike parts and because this is a forum there are those who wish to purchase items they read about on this forum which in turn will beg the "rude" line of questioning. If the poster that bought the wheels is uncomfortable about disclosing the price and or place where he got them publicly for all to see then he can always private message the asker.

I hope that clears up the reason for asking such a question.

Now if I was to meet a stranger on the street with those wheels or some other thing I wouldn't ask what he paid because that could be considered rude depending on the person, I may ask where did he get them and then I can find out the price by going online.

I haven't bought this nor will I but I saw this and said "dang, thats sweet. maybe someone here might be interested" Nashbar has the Ciocc San Cristobal frame on sale, it's a beauty, see: Ciocc San Cristobal Frameset

By the way that Ciocc uses Columbus SL Niobium tubeset which Nashbar failed to mention.

Just got it last Friday. PI Fitting is comparable to American clothing (vs Italian). Although it says form fit, it has enough room to layer up with a thicker base layer (i.e. PI Thermal Zip Neck LS) and would probably work between 20-30 with that combo since it has a windproof material. I wear a SMALL. Comparatively, a SMALL in DeMarchi or Giordana jacket only has room for a tight fitting base layer and I could only use a UnderArmour HeatGear compression on them.

Well, with the fact that I have purchased 4 jerseys, a pair of elite barrier tights, softshell jacket and 3 pairs of shorts from them plus a bunch of stuff for my wife and 3 taillights, I think I have supported them enough not to feel too guilty ordering some things online.

I hope you get it all worked out. I really love my cycling clothes and I think the fact that I feel more connected to the cycling community helps also to motivate me to ride more.
Thanks, Frank. I'm going to look for something from PI--have never tried them before. Gore is definitely out--at least until I weight 190 or less.

When I weighed a lot more (185 as opposed to 135 now) I tried lots and lots of clothing brands. The most forgiving ones, I found, were Castelli, Capo, and Hincapie.
