Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yes, guys, it is possible...

to tear your scrotum on a road bike, which I just proved to myself.

Yes Sir! I believe that we have all of the necessary information and no photos are required.

I'm not really sure. It was on my TT bike (P2C) toward the end of a hard (40 min) session. I was out of the saddle, going up a short rise, and when I went to get back on the saddle, it happened. My quads were totally fried, you know - hardly able to support my weight. I just wanted to get back in the saddle and I guess I was really low on "final approach" and didn't make it up over the nose. I wear these Performance shorts w/ really heavy chamois on the TT bike and, somehow, as best I can figure, my goods got wedged between the side of the chamois and the nose of the saddle. It happened pretty fast and I'm a little bit in shock.

The "tear" is about an inch long, right where the scrotum is attached in the saddle area. Oh, man, this sucks.

I know, for a fact, that the same can be accomplished on a bmx bike. Details will not be forthcoming, to protect those with sensitive constitutions.

Good call.

Waiting for the SO to come home and fall down the front steps laughing.

Googled some med info, and found a band with a name I never want to hear again:

NIGEL: Couldn't you have your balls cut off?
DAD: Hohh, it's not as simple as that, Nigel. God knows all! He'd see through such a cheap trick. What we do to ourselves, we do to Him.
GIRL: You could have had them pulled off in an accident.
CHILDREN:[talking]
DAD: No. No, children. I know you're trying to help, but, believe me,...
CHILDREN: Ohh...
DAD:...me mind's made up. I've given this long and careful thought, and it has to be medical experiments for the lot of you.

I don't know - I'm planning on seeing the doc tomorrow morning. I guess I could go this route, though:

"degloved scrotums attend the Accident and Emergency departments of hospitals each year. In one famous case involving an electric shoe-shining belt, the injured man tried to staple his torn scrotum together with an industrial stapler and only later discovered he was missing a testicle. "
