Unemployed since 2003, been doing the at-home dad thing. Initially not a lot of time to ride (when the kids were <3 years old), but last couple of years more so.
Now that the kids are in school, though, getting back to work isn't easy. No traction on the resume' and not much luck so far with changing to a new career.
Riding is good therapy.

I did an stint of unemployment a few summers ago - got a lot of good riding in, but got tired of having nobody else to ride/hang with since everyone's at work..
Am thinking of forcing myself into unemployment status soon actually.. work is super boring these days, but at least it pays.
Plus I have insurance, so racing isn't as much of a concern when employed.
Hida Yanra, planning on doing Seward race this week? I might be out there, Cat 5 parachute and all.

I just graduated with my Bachelor of Education and I am packing for a move in just over 2 weeks time.
So, no ... I'm not working just now. Not too many people hire for just a few weeks I'm way too busy with the packing, sorting, disposing process ... I'd be going insane if I had to work too.
And all this packing, sorting, and disposing has also eaten into my cycling time so I haven't been riding as much as I would like. But that's OK, I'll ride more when I get there.

Laid off April 17, after 11 years. I got a decent severance and 4 months access to an outplacement service. I had made a career change 3 years ago (within the same company), and when there was a merger, I got squeezed out on seniority.
I see a lot of positives here. My old company was very stubborn to adopt new technology (they refused to recognize any Adobe products!). I look forward to latching on with a more progressive company where I can actually use all my skills.
The job search has been keeping me very busy. I'm able to get out for a ride once or twice a week. I've also been hitting the gym just to keep my sanity.

No offense, but your grammar and spelling are terrible, it gives me a headache reading your posts, you may be saying something interesting and worthwhile, but I can't bring myself to reshuffle it enough.

I was unemployed for 6 out of the last 10 months after working for two failed music/technology start-ups. I have since went on to start my own entertainment marketing company ( https://lostpenguinmedia.com/ ) and now I set my own hours. It has greatly improved my cycling, My usual day is working from 7-12, cycling from 1-4 and then back working from 5-8. Long days but 3 hours of riding a day has been fantastic

Here in Canada, the two temp agencies that employed me both offered health care packages (dental, chiropractic, eyeglasses, medications, etc.) which we could sign up for if we wanted. As it happened I did some calculations and found that getting a package through CAA (Canadian Automobile Association) was slightly less expensive so that's the route I went.

I'm barely employed at the moment, I work 5-10 hours a week as a fleet mechanic for a pedicab company.
Though I just picked up another mechanic job at a shop (starts in a week or two), so the two jobs combined should almost be full time.

Good on you! +1 to the above: rest, shower, go in assuming they want to hire YOU, and don't look back!
I was supposed to have a final interview and get started at a firm last week.... and they haven't called back or responded to an email since-

Panic isn't sure about the pants bit, he was thinking about wearing a kilt. You know what Panic wears under his kilt right? Of course you do, you're Scotch.

Now to get to bed.
