Yup, it's the Elemnt Bolt, love it. Small, easy to use, and it holds a good charge. I also like the aero mount.

My understanding is that it uses your iphone or android as the gps, etc. What does that do for the battery in the phone? I am new to bike GPS units. I know that if I use one of the GPS apps on my iPhone, the battery consumption is much faster than normal.

It doesn't actively use the gps on your phone, it just needs the app if you need to make a new route, you build it on the app, it loads it to the unit and off you go. So you can either preload a route, like from ridewithgps, or have the app build a route for you. Or you can just ride without a route and have it record. But it doesn't actively use the phone, so the phone battery life is unaffected. I've had no issues with my phone battery, and can go on three or four rides and still have half my charge left on the Bolt. I also like that it syncs automatically with Strava (you can also turn that off if you don't want it to auto upload).

Ditto. Makes mid-west riding seem boring and mundane. :(

Decker Canyon rd is open again and the fire didn’t make the climb any easier :). The fire certainly did change the landscape especially on the north side of the road. It was interesting to see the bright green grass from the rains against the black silhouette of the trees/shrubs in places. There is still some power line work being done and very few cars made for a better ride too. Mulholland is still closed where it meets Decker.

Super, thanks for the explanation. Ok, so I will look for one of those Wahoos'

clemsongirl thanks for sharing the pics. Looks like a very nice climb/ride. You do have some great areas to ride in your part of the world.

It was raining this morning so I took out the mtb for a quick spin around the ‘hood.

Roads were wet but mostly empty.

Great feeling...

Took my cross bike so I didn't have to stop at the pavement ends sign. The road was pretty muddy, which made hills super tough.
