UGH, we live in Hollywood in an upstairs 1 bedroom apartment. I think we're about 600-650 sq. feet. The living room and eating area are all one big open floor plan, so...
Husband's bike is in our living room space, just inside our front door to the right. It's in my view as I type. My bike is behind our couch which acts as a room divider to the dining table. When we have company, both will roll into our rooms.
Hate it, but nowhere really safe to keep it outdoors in Hollywood.

I keep one (my commuter) in the garage; the rest in the batcave (apologies to JSharr):

Cdale tandem, Cotton Picker, missus's Coppi, Giant alum - garage.
Giant carbon, on trainer in basement.
Cannondale and track bike - in car after whatever ride I do until I have to take one bike out to put in the other. For example, my track bike lived in the car from Wed night (track racing). It'll come out tomorrow so I can put the Cannondale in for the race in the afternoon.
When Cdale or track bike are not in the car, they alternate between garage, living room, and basement.

In the home office or the spare bedroom. Used to be in the living room right inside the front door, but certain significant others put an end to that.

Garage - It's very clean in there, and usually semi-heated.

I have a DIY bike lift that I retrofitted from when I used to have a canoe I stored up on the ceiling. It also doubles as my "workstand". I plan to sink a eye bolt in the floor so I can attach a nylon strap from the BB to the floor too stabilize the bike when I work on it. It actually works out very well.

Hallway. On polished rock tile. Easy cleaning, water and grime is not an issue.
