Campagnolo acquired by Japanese company?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not exactly. However, there's a group of people of a certain age that were die hard Campy fans, until the dark era that corresponded with the begining of indexed shifting.

This broke the fascination with Campy for a number of people. Some have never come back.

Either way, I am a die-hard Campy fan that WILL get my hands on an 11 speed group before the "Brev Inter"" is gone!

I think C-record was the best of the old world groups. An aero version of Super Record. Then came the crazy stuff: Cobalto brakes, Syncro, Syncro II, EGR peddles, mountain groups. The catalogs & boxes were cool! The design team evidently spent more time on graphics & icons than the actual components. I would love to have an icon poster!

Love all my Campy equiped bikes. Doesn't really matter to me who owns them as long they continue to make quality parts at prices I can't afford.

That would be amazing to watch. Hordes of Campy faithful going apoplectic and raiding Walmarts across the country in a rage.

Maybe it's Columbus, so they can put Campy on all the brands they own at a bargain rate?

Cult members raid the shelves, destroy the Dorel-Campy, Bankrupting D-C, then acting as if the takeover never ever happened. Ten years from now there will be several basement companies dedicated to converting pre 2009 Campagnolo groups into whatever the 2019 bike standards happen to be.
Like out current Star Trekkies, Campy freaks will gather in honor every year & speak of how the advanced technology Campy introduced, in all it's greatness, has yet to be realized by the great unwashed.

I only have experience with Suntour (some of which seems quite nice) and Shimano (where you have to get up to like 105 before it's worth using). What are the current selling points of Campy over Shimano, other than being a pseudoeuropean dork?

In 2019 I can picture a conference room full of gray haired men learning step by step how to re-build their worn out shifters with bootleg parts. I will probably be one of them..

As long as the thumb button and the campy spline is still there, I'm ok. Otherwise, I have to buy a whole bunch of cassettes and cassette bodies!

This conversation is even more ridiculous than I thought it might be. All of these puerile ***********y fantasies about how you can't wait to make fun of the Campy riders is really disturbing, not to mention pathetic and whiny.
