you guys might've heard 2 little anecdotes from Philby and Paulie the other night.

There was a former pro who apparently used to attack on winding roads, then hide around a corner, and join the back of the bunch when they past, and watch them chasing for him :D

Another prick made a habit of attacking during piss breaks, so everyone hated him. One day he was taking a piss, so one of the other riders took his bike, rolled it 500m up the road, and threw it in the bushes,
then they attacked him :D

HA !! classic.

He might be thinking that, but he remains focussed and professional in spite of the dribble. But if you watch him closely he starts to fidget after a little while, like he wants to run away :D

I love Phil
He came on the Ringwood Clock Tower Wednesday ride once. I had an hour of Phil all to myself in the paceline.
Neil Stephens and Steve Hodge were on the front singing some dirty Spanish song to each other they both thought was incredibly amusing....

Man, the Man is back !! That was a great sprint to watch. Matty White blew himself up in that leadout, McGee too, all the Aussie boys helping out for Robbie to win :D

And the Blues performance was one of the ALL TIME best last night, it was great to watch !!!!!

And yes jock, I noticed that 'steep' drop too, pretty funny although the photography was great in all of those shots.

Nothing better than a good caning of the morons.... I mean maroons. :D

I can imagine all the Aussies would have pitched in just to help their best mate Robbie. Stu and Matt would have been fighting to be first in line

Well it's got to be the 200 km jobbie or it's not worth doing. Need something to train for, so the harder the ride, the harder I'll train. How steep are those hills btw? Assuming I'll reach a level of fitness a bit better than your average couch riding wannabe, is it doable with my bikes current 39/25?

39/25 will get you over everything. Long day though.

I did Bright-Tawonga-Falls Ck-Dederang-Mt Buffalo-Bright once on a training camp. Long day in the hurt box.

Funny....

"According to Philiep Caryn, head of sponsoring at Quick.Step, the team really has the goose laying the golden eggs in their den. "Tom is smarter than Beckham," he told Belgian Newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws. "He's actually got something meaningful to say, and that is a characteristic which makes him especially popular with women."

Hilarious! Not only do pro cyclists ever say anything interesting, but women don't give a stuff either.

Unless I missed that conversation with him where he denounced Globalisation, mentioned his fondness of doing the dishes, and his love of hot chocolate and snuggling on the couch watching romantic comedies every Friday night.

HDTVKSS, couldn't werk out how to insert pic into PM so posting here instead.

This is the saddle I was talking about last night. Actually it's from a pic of berny's bike. Mine has a bit of leather missing on either side from hitting the road a few times. Needed the practice I guess :D

HDTVKSS 07-06-05 11:13 PM

cheers Jock. looks like a goer. now i need to work out my bar/stem height and reach to get rid of the pain in my hands :(

and everyone needs the practice of hiting the road :D its like initiation

jock 07-06-05 11:21 PM

I've got Arnie Bakers Bike Fit guide if you want it.

HDTVKSS 07-06-05 11:27 PM

is that the PDF from RBR? sure, would be good to have a look. checked out this earlier today : http://www.cyclemetrics.com/Pages/Do...t_formulas.htm and at the base it gives the equation ( (Torso Length + Arm Length) / 2) + 4 = ( Top Tube + Stem) . this is all good and fine, but what is torso length exactly ( i know what a torso is!!) is it from my hips to the top of my shoulders?

jock 07-06-05 11:38 PM

Both are "FitStik" terms [edit] in the context of the website you provided [/edit].

TORSO LENGTH: Place a pencil or other short rod through the hole for the CRANK ADAPTOR. Then, with the CROSSBAR held up firmly in the crotch, adjust the FitStik to place the end of pencil in the sternal notch (the V-shaped notch between the collarbones). Read Torso Length on the SADDLE HEIGHT SCALE.

ARM LENGTH: With the arm outstretched to the side, grasp the crossbar in the hand and slide the stick so its base touches the ribs where they intersect the pectoral muscle. Read ARM LENGTH on the INSEAM SCALE.

Got it? Of course it's meaningless without a fitstik system

HDTVKSS 07-06-05 11:41 PM

hmmm oh - kay then! i think ill just book myself in for a fit when i can afford it. the fit Mark did on my mountain bike was top notch.

531Aussie 07-07-05 12:51 AM

Im not sure how serious this guy is, but did you guys see this on the "Stage 5" thread?

Why does McEwen piss off so many people?

I really don't see this "huge ego" thing. Every time he's intervied he's very measured.
I'm sure he has an ego, but he ain't exactly over the top.

So, Robbie, petulance and aggro (I won't go as far as -gasp- cheating) should go by the board in order to make the race interesting?

You chest thumping, pointing, egotistical, wheel sucking, prat.
