what the......http://www.quickstepcycling.com/images/QSC/splash/splashimage.jpg

a novice's question for you all. (because mcewen doesn't have enough written about him at the moment) i only saw the sbs highlights this pm, but it didn't appear that robbie, (and in fact dav/lotto) were in the chase for the intermediate sprint points. his 16 point advantage over boonen (for the win) was pretty much halved because of the points boonen managed to score along the way. reasons / ideas?

cheers

I need a signature like this.

"USCF Category 5 Racer - Reaching for my Personal Best... Everyday! "

I won the OTB comp 1-0 over MadScot today.

I can only guess that lil robbie is trying to do a Zabel. Can't remember which years (and couldn't be bothered lookin them up!) but Zabel came from a long way back twice in recent history to down robbie and stu. The Aussies had built reasonable leads but Zabel cut them down after preserving himself over the climbs and taking late sprint points when it mattered.

[edit] robbie's talk about "not caring about the green" is total BS. It's all he cares about. He will be within a coupla points coming into Paris, and will do his best to take it out again.

banged up knee, superficial wounds, was at slow speed so no bad damage. :)

I agree that Robbie could and would love to take Green with Boonen being banged up.

Off for a blanket and a cuppa for a few hours Tour viewing.

jock 07-10-05 08:29 AM

All quiet today chaps....

Anyway, Jock did u race on the weekend?

ed073 07-10-05 09:33 PM

Aussies dominating Super Week.

Hilts lapped the field with a few others then gave a sprinting lesson.

Nope, back on base training for a little while. Had a horrid ride into the gale on Saturday for 40km at 26kmh but then screamed down from Lochinvar to Newcastle with the wind at my back :D 46.6kmh avg over 50km at a super low HR of 145-155bpm!!!. Why can't the wind be at you back no matter which direction you're travelling?

Thylacine 07-10-05 10:18 PM

Ah, good to see I haven't missed anything these past few days. Nice work chaps, keep up the good work!

Had a good 50km spin on Friday. You know one of those days where you just feel good for no apparent reason? Had one of those. Averaged almost 32kph, did 22 up 'The Hill of Death' (18 months ago it was 11kph  )....it was all good.

So far I've also managed to watch 3 stages of the Tour live. Granted, two times was on a Saturday night, and the third time was a weekday where I fell asleep and woke up just in time for the finish, but hey

*edit* Thankyou Jock for making my averages look pissweak :(

Dun blame me, bloody wind was to blame. It was like riding a very long downhill run. Sweeeeeeeet!

I was wearing a Thylacine jersey if that makes you feel any better. :)

How do you do 26 into a gale? I'm with Thylo. You suck. :(

I'll settle for that. I'd be happier if it was combined with a Thylacine bike though

:)

Dunno. Part of the way was a little bit protected by the terrain, but the open bits were murder. For that I just spun it up and stayed low to keep it up at 20-22kph. One really steep hill I went down straight into the wind pedalling hard: speedo only 38kph  nearly got knocked off by gusts a couple of times. Freaky. Scariest part was going over a 500m pick-a-plank bridge at 50kmh. Glad I don't do that for a living

[edit] yeah, I prolly do suck :p

climbo 07-11-05 04:41 AM

guys, Friday night track racing this week, I plan on going. If anyone wants to come I'll be driving down right after work from Wyong. Not sure when I'll leave, hopefully by 4:30 at the latest. The website is down but I think it starts at 7pm? Maybe 6:30.

HDTVKSS 07-11-05 05:20 AM

Jock, you doin the homebush sprint-fest on Wed?

I wouldn't mind going, but I hafta get a leave pass first. Oh yeah, and a track bike too. :D

I'll TXT you if I'm gunna go. Might be worth hitching a lift if there's room.

As far as I can recall the 'official' start time of the warmup race is 7:05pm.

I was planning on just doing miles at homebush tomorrow + a little bit of paceline (maybe with C Bunch!). The saddle will be in the car. I can drop it in to you if you want.
