Thanks for that. Here's an ethical question for no one in particular:

A supplier of bike gear (for resale) shipped my stuff to me today (or so he says) before we worked out shipping terms to my satisfcation. Some is going by air, some by surface. I wasn't happy with the figures quoted (US$50+ postage for US$30+ in products). This is an one off deal from this guy. I'm not going to not pay, but I have some issues with the total. What would you do?

did it weigh 20 kilos or something? That's way excessive. And some is surface? How long will that take? You might be back in the states before it gets here.

a little under 5kg total. I checked with US Immigration, and it can take up to 6 months to get my wife's visa sorted, so you guys are stuck with me longer than I thought.

Yes, it can take up to 6 months to get her a visa that allows her to work. Tiger, I'm not sure that "Improves" is the right word. "Simplifies" might be a better choice. I'm quite happy to have just one woman in my life now. I enjoyed being a bachelor, but married life is treating me very well.

I don't get; I've hammered the crap out my alu bikes in the same way (tight seat-clamp, and slamming into the saddle), and they haven't busted.

His shoes are ok. They have a ratcheting buckle, so hopefully they can't be overtightened too much.
