Balance and balls. You got a bit of both, doesn't matter what you ride.

Nup....but a shop full of $10k bikes and no customers will do that.

Details????

531Aussie 03-01-05 09:40 PM

hitchy reckons they did far too many deals over the years with the all the bike shop boys

rockmuncher 03-01-05 09:44 PM

There's a lot to be sed for turning over huge numbers of cheaper bikes to keep the cashflow churning over while the bling gathers dust

531Aussie 03-01-05 09:44 PM

Just noticed a huge crack across the top of the seat-tube on my Kervello at the bottom of that gap on the tube which is supposed to allow for some movement when tightening the seat collar.:(

Bollocks. Down to Kevin "Chief" Wigham

I think they made more money from the coffee machine they had in there.

Yeah, that's right, a bike shop with a latte/cappuccino machine :D

But I s'pose it is only 800m from Chapel St, Windsor....la di da

Too true....the amount of crap Norco MTB bikes I sold for $500 at Freedom Machine kept me in a job.

Warranty?

That's a deadset bummer. such a nice frame, too.

I gather the distributor could easily say it's my fault for doing the seat collar up too tight, which I probably did.

I'll ask Wigham when he sees it. I just just rang him, and without seeing the frame, he's pretty confident he can fix it.

Is he still ripping legs off on the Hell Ride every Saturday?

He made my track bike. I loved it, before I had to sell it. :(

[sniff]

Bicycle Recycle have got about 25 second hand "bling" bikes which they hardly ever turn over.

Darren said: "eh, they're mainly for looks; we make our $$$ form EVERYTHING else"

Dunno. He still looks pretty fit and super lean, and says he still rides a lot.

Doesn't have the "moustacha" no more.....looks weird :)

I bought an old 531 Paconi frame for $100. It's not as lively as my favourite 531, but it's good enough.

I had a Ken Evans steel 708 or 731 or something......that was pretty good.

531Aussie 03-01-05 10:14 PM

i still don't get why you had to sell your bikes.

It's not as if they would've been taking up closet space:p

I sold my Merckx road, Paconi track and my ergo.

Made the dopey mistake of replacing them with an MTB.....a Specialized Stumpjumper S-Works M2 or something.

Got rid of that....bought the Scapin.

I did the same thing with all my music gear (twice, doh!), except I never let go of my favourite guitars.

rockmuncher 03-02-05 03:59 AM

Hey climbo, did the hornsby to gosford run this afternoon with a good tailwind. What a great ride. Left hornsby at 4:20 and had almost no traffic the whole way. Even the section from Hornsby to Berowra was quiet. Averaged 31 while HR capped at 160 (crawled over the two climbs in 39/23) and just cruised the rest.

How was racing? Has the mad scot bought a track bike yet?

Brian 03-02-05 04:02 AM

Hey Munchie, where did you get a loaner MTB?

Guy at work. You know the type, mid-life crisis, buys a bike, rides it twice, hangs it in the garage until the tyres perish, then offers it to his colleagues so it gets some use :D

He a bit bigger than me, so I'm hoping he hasn't bought a large frame. Although I've heard that MTB frame size isn't as critical as l33t road bike frame sizing.

Seeing as how most companies make a S, M & L, there shouldn't be too much of a problem. Worst case, spontaneous vasectomy.

Apparently us roadies don't have balls of any great significance, so it would only be cosmetic surgery

Brian 03-02-05 04:33 AM

It's hardly cosmetic, but yeah, I don't think roadies have balls. Besides, they'd only get in the way. Did you want that Nitestick, or am I putting it on ebay with the BLT light set and Co2 gear?

If its a 5.5 (NiMH) then yeah, but I'm not interested in NiCad at all

no traffic? where is everyone? sounds great, good job.

That wind you had at your back was a nice headwind in the front straight tonight at the track. Got in a nights worth of races with some rain in between. Beat my 200m time by 0.2 so happy about that (13:00 and I wanted to see a '12' in front but too bad...next time). Frazer did a 12:03 for a new track record. Won the 3 lap scratch off 10 metres from young Laurence, we had nobody on scratch tonight.

So a good night barring the rain. Bike or not, there's a BBQ coming up for the last night, should be fun. 3 weeks away I think. :)
