Thanks for that. Here's an ethical question for no one in particular:
A supplier of bike gear (for resale) shipped my stuff to me today (or so he says) before we worked out shipping terms to my satisfcation. Some is going by air, some by surface. I wasn't happy with the figures quoted (US$50+ postage for US$30+ in products). This is an one off deal from this guy. I'm not going to not pay, but I have some issues with the total. What would you do?

did it weigh 20 kilos or something? That's way excessive. And some is surface? How long will that take? You might be back in the states before it gets here.

a little under 5kg total. I checked with US Immigration, and it can take up to 6 months to get my wife's visa sorted, so you guys are stuck with me longer than I thought.

I'm still a newlywed, I'll have to finish this conversation tomorrow.

mmmmmm, I suppose you can see what the ACTUAL postage is on the box when it gets here. How was your night?

I'm still up before 6, even without work. Always good, to answer your questions.

4 kids already. We're excited about the fact that the youngest is out of the house in 6 years.

Ship them off to boarding school
freedom could be just around the corner!
6 months to get a visa sorted? I take it that is for residency?

So you're saying getting married improves your sexlife? Man, I seem to have entered a parallel universe.

Yes, it can take up to 6 months to get her a visa that allows her to work. Tiger, I'm not sure that "Improves" is the right word. "Simplifies" might be a better choice. I'm quite happy to have just one woman in my life now. I enjoyed being a bachelor, but married life is treating me very well.

You had the right size seatpost, right?

Just curiously, how long is the slot? I slot mine at least 25mm top to bottom to avoid exactly this type of problem.

yeah, steel frame. Should be repairable.
the seat-tube slot is 30mm deep.
I don't get; I've hammered the crap out my alu bikes in the same way (tight seat-clamp, and slamming into the saddle), and they haven't busted.
This is why I can't buy super bling stuff: I wrecked things

yeah, that sucks, I would never expect my frame to crack there. I'm going home to check mine tonight.
But then you might crack your alu frame somewhere else, and then it's toast !

Seriously though, that sucks.
I think i will loosen my seat collar a little, considering you thought it was done up to tight.

His shoes are ok. They have a ratcheting buckle, so hopefully they can't be overtightened too much.

I feel I've missed my chance to make fun of white shoes with rat ***** on them.
