Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

They should hold a bike race there. Some time on saturday would be excellent with a good crowd. Say a 40 minute +1 lap kermesse

Yeah....the HSV and FPV bogans would love watching skinny little blokes ride up and down for an hour.

They had the final of the Bay Crits there in 1998 I think (Robbie won)....but it was a hotdog.

Wouldn't need it to be a hotdog, the track's only 5.3km long. Imagine a huge field rolling around the track at over 50kmh, awesome.

I've seen small groups training on the sections that aren't open to cars during the "normal" part of the year, but that was a couple of yers ago, so it could've changed.

The whole track's open during the year....I've been known to take the Scapin out at lunchtime, believe it or not.

I'm not a huge fan of these Inertia valves, especially when you've only got a p1ss-ant 80mms of travel. I want my suspension to work all the time, not when some rudimentary brass valve ( call that a brain? ) say's it's time to work.

Of the Fox forks, I like the F80 RLT for XC. However, my next MTB might possibly be a 29er, in which case I'm going to give the Maverick SC32 a whirl.

531, what shoes did you end up getting and how much did they sting ya? I broke my SPD's so now I have to get new shoes and pedals. I'm thinking the new Time RXE pedals and Sidi Genius Megawides might be the ticket.

Hey Tiger, I can hook you up with a custom ATC Racing Hanebrink designed fork for much less than the Maverick. You even get to choose colors and spring rates.

I'll be doing the pain thang at Akuna Bay again tomorrow. You should tag along one week. Dare i go to HR189? Might have to, the other guys have learnt how to suffer over the last coupla weeks and are now throwing out a strong challenge.

It's been a nice restful week otherwise, so I should be back on track to inflict some pain on the spinners on Sunday. Mewhawhawhaw.

Ok everyone, it's official. Starting Mundee, I'm going to go do that thing that most of you already do. Long pants, shoes, a shirt with buttons. Yup, I'm going back to work in an office. I may have to have a drink to celebrate.

You'd think that, but it's an international company, so I fit in. Where have you been?

sheesh, first zimbabwe get 54 all out and then kallis gets 50 off 24 balls! I'm beginning to think that match is a bit one-sided...

$390 for shoes, and he "Threw in a FREE pair of socks"? Priceless.

Have I abused you enough over your new shoes yet?

There's a shop 2 doors down (slightly different shop) that had $490 on them, so I thought I was doing ok.

I've spent over US$10k for a camera, so don't feel bad.

I sold it to build the tandem. Got about AU$2400 for it. My digital camera that was AU$5k new? Talked the buyer into coughing up AU$840. I should point out that these things paid for themselves along the way, but that's a terrible beating to take both buying and selling. So I'll give you a break about the shoes.
