Absolutley not!!. The person that does the fit should do this for you.

I'm not being nasty here, it's just that some of the body measurements are difficult to take and little errors can make for a bad fit range. Also, frame geometries vary wildly so some frame measurements need to be taken in specific ways. Let the LBS do it, as they should have the experience.

[edit] I also note that the site uses the Knee Over Pedal Spindle method of saddle positioning which, while providing a reasonable starting point for fitting, does not adapt to changes in frame geometry (specifically seat-post tube angle) or the rider's foot length or femur to leg length ratio. In the end, using KOPS based measurements may provide a perfect fit on one frame and a damaging fit on another.

climbo 03-20-05 09:19 PM

and Marty232, road bikes have a lot more reach (i.e. flatter back position) than most MTB's so your bad back thingy you mention may need some considerations.

Marty232 03-20-05 09:28 PM

On my mountain bike I adjusted the seat so it’s as close to the handle bars as it can go and the seat is sloping down on 5 degree angle this might be causing problems. My back is ok for about 20 mins but than it starts to hurt and I get a hunched over back. When riding all the wight seems to be on my rists which I know is wrong.

I will give up all 3 of my bikes for tickets to Kylie Minogue's "Showgirl" tour.

Anyone? Well, I don't think my 3 bikes are going to cover the cost of a plane ticket to Sydney and tickets to her show (they're already sold out).

OUCH !!

Sounds like it's way too long for you. Get a proper fitting, call around some bike stores and ask what services they provide, and how much they cost.

Marty232 03-20-05 09:45 PM

Probally need a longer stem post.

No, I work in West Perth so it's a pain to go down to the city and back. Saw lots of bikes that day though.

Didn't do the freeway thing as I played football yesterday morning. I won't be doing it next year either as I'm leaving Perth in July to go and live in the UK (after a long holiday.)

crank'n 03-21-05 12:06 AM

crikey stone the crows there were wooden frames there to hitch up the bikes, and there was a layer of bikes covering the lawn, a trusting bunch, could have picked a bike any bike..Sounds like your working on Hay street W/P towards the freeway, government house ,getting warmer?I rode past dumas house{ 60kmh+hill=good brakes into the city} the other day /wished i had a digital camra to put in an another s and sent it into rove live for what the.
A cyclist got finded $150 for riding a GREEN walk sign in Perth.
A nurse I hang out with made heaps of $$ in the uk returned and paid little tax, would have taken here twice as long to do the same here, now working at King Edward hospital.
Which football team do you play for?Im a subiaco supporter.
The narrows bridge eara is gettin a bit hairy I hear, with bike cowbows taking up the narrow paths, a triathlete ended up parralized along there not long ago after a 20kmh crash.

Well lads, I found me a job!!

I never knew that bodily functions were so important when riding. :o

Hey Expat, what name do you auction you stuff on ebay under.

Hmmm. I'll let the first comment slide.
Congrats on the job, and welcome to my world.
We all assumed part of the problem was that you were full of *****.
Munchy answered that, but it's Ozbikesports. Thin selection today, but I do know some Ultegra cranks with BB and some MTB parts are on the way.

I did 64km/h down Murray Street on my commuter bike. I work on Kings Park Road.

My wife's a nurse so she won't have any problems finding a job.

Where did you here about the cyclist getting fined?

I meant association football - I don't follow Aussie Rules.

I've never cycled across the narrows bridge as I don't ride SOR. The only time I get to cycle nowadays is to work as I'm too busy trying to finish renovating my house before I leave.

climbo 03-21-05 04:03 PM

I'll be out there somewhere. As for MTBing, it should be a hell weekend for it after the lashing we are about to receive! They're predicting 100kmh winds, heavy squalls, and 6m seas for this afternoon: and I'm riding home!!!

climbo 03-21-05 04:29 PM

maybe we should be going surfing then :)
